Three Ranger prospects saw action on Saturday night as the college teams get ready for their holiday break. K’Andre Miller once again came up big for his Wisconsin Badgers. Miller had a 1-1-2 night as Wisconsin shutout Michigan State 3-0. The win was the team’s third straight and extended their unbeaten streak to six games. Nobody scored and the two goalies did not play so the evening was the quietest of the season. K’Andre Miller had a quiet night as his Wisconsin Badgers extended their unbeaten streak to five games with a 5-3 win over Michigan State. Miller was scoreless on just one shot and was a +1. Riley Hughes (Victoria Grizzlies) Six New York Ranger prospects saw action on Friday night but only one, Riley Hughes stood out. Hughes had a 3-2-5 effort to help his team earn a 10-6 win. Against the Coquitlam Express, Hughes had the best night of his short BCHL career. It started with an even-strength goal just 1:55 into the contest giving the Grizzlies a 1-0 lead. Nico Gross (Oshawa Generals) A busy Friday night saw all but one of the Ranger’s North American prospects in action. Yet the offensive star was one who coming into the season offered the least offense. Nico Gross helped his Oshawa Generals knock off the Hamilton Bulldogs 6-2 for the team’s fifth straight win. Gross earned the game’s first star with a goal and an assist as the Generals spotted the Bulldogs a goal and then took control with four unanswered goals. Hughes scored twice but his Victoria Grizzlies needed the shootout to take a 6-5 win over the Vernon Vipers. Tyler Wall (UMass-Lowell) Seven Ranger prospects were in action on Saturday with junior goalie Tyler Wall of UMass-Lowell leading the way.  The junior goalie, Wall stopped 28 shots to lead his UMass-Lowell River Hawks to a 3-0 win over fellow prospect Adam Huska’s UConn Huskies. The win gave the River Hawks a weekend sweep of the Huskies thanks in large part to Wall’s play. Wall would get the only goal he would need just 1:46 into the contest. Morgan Barron continued his solid play with a two-point night to lead his Cornell Big Red to a 3-2 win over Northern Michigan.  Barron scored his fourth goal and added a secondary assist as the Big Red won their fourth straight game.
