Aus stocks are terrible

The Australian stock Morley has only gained an average 4.5% per annum (pa) over the past 3 years, 7% pa over the past 5 years, and 6.61% pa over the past 10 years. This is terrible it’s not even that much more than a savings account. I’ve held Australian stocks the last 20 years and USA stocks the last 10 years and I’ve made so much more money with the S&P 500 in USA. I’m actually considering selling all my Australian stocks to put in the us stock market but the aus dollar is so week against the USA dollar now that that’s the only key reason I haven’t done it. . Why waste your time with A ..read more

Please use this monthly thread to discuss your portfolio, learn about others' portfolios, and help out users by giving constructive criticism. As usual, please don't just list the names of stocks (or ask 'what do you think'), try to elaborate with your thoughts on the companies or news. Writing the tickers in bold is nice, to make it easier for people skimming the thread to pick out the names. Please ensure you include the percentage each ticker takes up your portfolio. If you want more 'in-depth discussion', by all means, feel free to open up a new thread, this is merely to facilitate briefe ..read more

Edit: removing Musk comment as it’s irrelevant. Firstly, how does Musk get away with market manipulation and secondly, what is the strategy behind people buying into the shit he says? The stock was tanking, and he said Robotaxis were coming in August. Earnings tanked, and he announced cheaper cars THIS YEAR! Is it just morons buying into it, or am I the idiot? submitted by /u/Fun-Instruction4432 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Get into ASX or stay with US stocks

I moved to Australia recently and my current portfolio is about 50:50 in EUR and USD ETFs and stocks. Now that I am getting a salary in AUD I am wondering if I should pick an ASX ETF or I should convert to USD and buy a US based ETF. Apart from the currency conversion loss are there other major considerations? I'm not from the US btw, just getting US stocks from my previous and current employer and some of it I sold to buy VOO. As a bonus questions, what might be a good complement to VWCE and VOO and still be growth oriented (10-20 year outlook)? Thanks! submitted by /u/pevasi [visit reddit ..read more

My broker won't do Trailing Stop Loss so I'm going to have to do it manually. How often would you update the stop loss? Every week? Every 2 weeks? Monthly?

How to claim Federal Tax back due to invalid W-8BEN form?

Hi, I’m with Westpac Global Markets and they’ve informed me my W-8BEN had expired, therefore my sale was tax 30% in 2023. I’ve now submitted a new one but they’ve said they cannot claim 2023 as US tax year is Jan - Dec. They’ve advised I contact the IRS. Can anyone give advice or if they’ve gone through this before? Cheers submitted by /u/CrabRemote7530 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

DRO (Droneshield) Share Purchase Plan questions

As I held stocks in DRO I'm eligible for the 'SHARE PURCHASE PLAN' at .80c a share. Since I've never bought shares this way before, is there anything I should know? Is it best to wait until the last day to see how the stocks perform until that time? Or will that increase the risk of them reaching the cap and rejecting application? Once bought, how are they monitored? I assume I can't monitor them easily and they won't combine into my stake app. I assume they'll be locked into that https://investor.automic.com.au/ website. submitted by /u/yb0t [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
