What a roller-coaster this year has been, for everyone!  It looks like we are still in for a mammoth ride.  Sundragon have been responding to the Covid19 pandemic, by offering a ‘take-away’ service to our Members and Friends. Friend’s of Sundragon, is a new subscription, in response to the pandemic, that we have instituted at the Old Print Works Studio. For £40 per month, £30 unwaged, you can subscribe, and become a Friend of Sundragon.  You can buy clay from us, and make at home, you can even use your own clay, as long as we have the data sheets for it! Membership Rates at Sundragon Community Pottery   Friends of Sundragon – No Studio Access -£40 per month/£30 (unwaged)   Studio Access Membership – starts at £60 per month/£50 (unwaged)   Studio Access membership involves an induction, @£15, and for many, it will also involve a period of mentoring, with more experienced members, just until you get to know the studios. Hello It has been a very strange year, so far, and it’s bound to get weirder! I watched the Coronavirus, with some fear, as news started to come out of China in early January.  I even made a pinch pot “response” to it, enamoured with it’s spherical nature and spikes, a shape I have explored for some years in my own practice. It was a little like voyeurism, watching the virus, feeling safe on our green isles, far away from the orient.  However, by the end of March, far from being the most productive year yet for Sundragon, we cancelled our courses, and shut the door to members.   ..read more

Creative Health Alliance Project, Week 2

We have begun to gather all of the materials necessary for the creative clay packs that we will be sending out to people, as part of the project with Coventry and Warwickshire Creative Health Alliance (CWCHA). Fiona, Claire and Layla worked on the initial application. Thank you Dave C for informing us about the opportunity. All members received one month’s notice of increase in clay prices. Effective from Monday 24 February 2020, all items made and submitted for payment will be charged at the following rates: Buff / Reclaim / Oxidizing St Thomas: 50p per 100g Vulcan Black: 90p per 100g Crank: 70p per 100g Porcelain: £1.30 per 100g Your own clay: 40p per 100g This applies to items made from 24 February onwards. This also applies to items made during private tuition and classes. The increase in price is to cover technical work in the studio and to cover depreciation of kilns.
