Well, the temperature of the drink - but just like with wine, the growing conditions, plant variation and process used vastly affects the way it looks and tastes. So tea from Kenya will taste very different to tea from India, just as tea from Darjeeli ..read more

How to make the perfect cup of tea. Step 1. Rolled, Whole Leaves. Let’s start with the most important part. The tea. Start with your eyes. Tea should look like tea. Look for rolled, whole leaves. The bigger the better. They hold much more taste and don’t lose their oils, unlike the chopped-up dust in supermarket teabags. Grab a box of the good stuff Step 2. Get the ratio right We’ve made many a cup of tea in the past. And we’ve finally decided that the perfect ratio for the best cup of tea is 5g loose tea to 400ml water. If you can’t be faffed with measuring that out (neither can we), we’ve de ..read more

Loose Leaf vs Tea Bags.
Brew Tea Company Blog

The big rivalries of history: David vs Goliath, Michelangelo vs da Vini, Tesla vs Edison and Mcgregor vs Mayweather. But since the invention of the first, hand sewn silk tea bags in 1903, one rivalry exists to top them all.  LOOSE LEAF VS TEA BAGS. For us, this is an easy one. We're totally unswayed by the suggestion that making loose leaf is somehow a complicated process, we've laid this on the line before. So, any arguments for tea bags made in terms of their relative simplicity are invalid. Quashed. Kaput.  The first argument in favour of loose leaf is that it just ..read more

Rather than blasting you with a million and one different recipes, we thought we'd keep it concise with some one liner iced tea recipes. Some classic, some... less so. The rule of thumb with this is simple, four scoops per 800ml of water in one of our Tea Pots for two. With that in mind, let's do this. SHORT, SIMPLE, TASTY. English Breakfast, hot brew, cool over ice, add honey and lemon to taste. Earl Grey, cold brew, add bourbon and vanilla. Plenty of.  Chai, hot brew, cool over milk & ice, add vanilla. Boom.  Jasmine Green, cold brew, add mint and cucumber. Fruit punch, hot br ..read more

Brew Tea Company Blog

Ah, iced tea - a staple of British summer time. You'll already know that the best iced teas are homemade. The best of the best are made with rolled whole leaves and cold brewed for 12 -15 hours in the fridge overnight. You put in all of that time to get an awesome flavour out of the tea, so it seems a shame to water it down with ice.  But there's no use in an ice-less cold brew, so we've come up with an awesome recipe for making ice cubes with tea - say hello to even more awesome iced tea! TIME SENSITIVE PICTURE TAKING.   You're going to need: Rolled whole leaves - always. 1 T ..read more
