No response from a multiple-stay host to latest reservation request [AT]

There’s a place I’ve stayed in Vienna 4 times, and I went to book for a fifth time. It said the host had 24 hours to respond to my request. She didn’t, and now it says I need to look for reservations elsewhere. Now, this host isn’t a great communicator-I’ve merry canceled twice because I didn’t hear anything at all from her about check-in until the day of my arrival (it says contact host for arrival and how to get in). She always comes through, though, and the place is the perfect size, location, and price for me. I’ve always left her glowing reviews and she has always left them for me as wel ..read more

Opinion: Hosts should reach out before stay [USA]

I've been staying in Airbnbs since the beginning, all over the world, and have had mostly pretty positive experiences. But just recently, I've noticed a trend where hosts do not reach out after booking, and even a day before the stay, still nothing. I feel this is sort of strange -- even if everything is confirmed, there is a very real sense of doubt or mistrust when flying across the country or further, and not having had even the most minimal interaction with your host. I currently have two stays lined up for later this week and next week (both booked in November!), and have not heard anyth ..read more

Could anyone kindly clarify Airbnb's refund policy in the following scenario: If I withdraw a reservation request after the cancellation policy full refund cutoff (3pm today GMT) but before the host has approved the stay, am I still eligible for a full refund? Can a "friend" who has booking details, cancel a reservation I placed from my account? [ICLD]

I have been making bookings for 6 people in Iceland for a trip in July, but one person has since had a falling out with some of the others in the group and has backed out. Prior to this they were given details about the booking (confirmation number), and I am worried that she will be petty and cancel our bookings. I am even worried that she will try to cancel some of our groups' plane tickets as she has their confirmation numbers. Is she able to do this, or will she need to be signed in to my account? submitted by /u/ManyOnionz [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Recent host left a very annoying and passive aggressive review + private note [USA]

to start off i’ll say this is only my fourth time using airbnb (one of those times my girlfriend booked on her account) and my one other booking was the same place two years in a row which was an all around great experience and the host left a very positive review with nothing but nice things to say, he also recommended me to other hosts ‘without hesitation’ - so for this recent one to be one of the two reviews on my page is pretty frustrating considering the fact that i find what he said to be completely untrue. i plan on using airbnb in the future so i’m wondering if something like this mig ..read more

Could this be a security threat that the host, which has multiple listings, could host lose the license/privilege/right to house? Ive tried to reach out to the host - and the half ass response was mediocre at best. Ive even changed the batteries myself. I had to carry my laptops and stuff for two days when i went out leaving the door unlocked. submitted by /u/travelingpinguis [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Neighbourhood Support - Does it actually change things? [UK]

After two years of being forced to have an Airbnb on the flat directly above mine, I have submitted countless reports/concerns to the Airbnb Neighbourhood Support platform. The message is always the same, the outcome can't be divulged. And yet the host remains unpunished and the listing remains active. This listing has broken pretty much every Airbnb rule, including parties, allowing drug consumption and telling guests to book and pay in a different website after finding the property via Airbnb. Has anyome actually ever had a success story when reporting issues where Airbnb has kicked out a b ..read more

Dishonest, retaliatory review from host. AirBNB support won’t remove it. Is there anything I can do? [USA]

Hello everyone. I am running into an issue where a host left a dishonest review as retaliation for my request for a partial refund. Upon check in and during my stay at the host’s place, there were numerous issues. These issues were not minor. For example one of the beds collapsed when I sat on it…. During the stay, I contacted the host about these different issues and he was responsive but not all issues were resolved. Upon check out, I requested a partial refund from the host. He did not respond within the 72 hour time frame, so I chose to involve AirBNB support. They informed me that the ho ..read more

Rural house rental - no water for 2 days, now no tv for 3 days [USA]

Can't believe I'm posting on here after following the sub for a while. Staying 4 nights in an Airbnb house. House is nice, yard is great, everything looks as advertised. 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, large house in northeast US. Family of 5. First 2 days, we have very little access to running water. Like a trickle is coming out of the tub faucet. We need to wash our hands with bottled water after using bathroom. After multiple messages and sending some videos to show we're not unreasonable or exaggerating, property management hires plumbers to come fix. Water well needed a new pump. Great, water n ..read more
