Hull 2018 Brian Griffin - Legendary British Photographer has died aged 75. Brian started his career as a highly acclaimed corporate photographer during the ’70s. His association with Stiff Records propelled him into the realm of music, where he became a prominent figure. In the ’80s, Griffin gained recognition for capturing some of the decade’s most defining album covers. Notably, his work on Depeche Mode’s A Broken Frame, featuring a distinctive photograph of a woman harvesting grain in a field, drew inspiration from the socialist photography of Soviet Russia. His other work included pro ..read more

Seen in Notting Hill, London - No Fly Tipping

Seen in... Notting Hill, London The British term fly tipping is derived from the verb tip, meaning "to throw out of a vehicle", and on the fly, meaning "on the wing" – to throw away carelessly or casually. 'No Fly Tipping' signs are rare in London, but some of the original signs still remain like this faded council one, just below a more recent one above it. Located on the wall of this quiet residential road in the Notting Hill area. I'm not sure why the sign is still there, but I found it humorous that of all the places on this road they could have just dumped this mysterious suitcase, t ..read more

Pedley Street / Fleet Street Hill

Pedley Street / Fleet Street Hill I've always found this gritty urban location (just off Brick Lane), in Bethnal Green/Shoreditch, London interesting. One of the reasons is that each time you visit you more or less get a new photo because the street art and graffiti changes so often! Also, depending on the time of day, the light and shadow changes the image and its fun to experiment with different perspectives under this quiet, cobbled railway arch. This arch way has a notorious East End history going back over a century (some pretty grim!), but in a way that is why many areas of East Lond ..read more

Notting Hill - London Lock Down - CoronaVirus Part 2 Check out Notting Hill London Lockdown series Part 1 I am visually documenting the effects that the coronavirus is having on my neighbourhood in West London. The UK lockdown has meant the temporary closure of a major tourist area around Notting Hill and Portobello Road Market. Each time I go out for one of my daily walks I have been taking my iPhone out with me and taking snapshots that reflect the sign of the times for residents, visitors and local businesses to Notting Hill. I will keep on adding new pics as I take them. This part 2 ..read more
