In celebration of #WBW we would love to share a few precious breastfeeding images with you! We also found this beautiful poem about breastfeeding.  At Last She feeds her baby and it is the first loving touch she has ever felt in her bruised and battered life. She strengthens and nourishes her little one, and introduces him to love and trust and he does the same for her. He thrives, and so does she, for the first time; for the first time, and forever By Cathy Bryant What was your feeding journey like? Did you breast or bottle feed? Thankyou to all the photographers who ..read more

Placentas! Not everybody wants to see their placenta after they give birth and some people think us birth photographers and our obsession with placentas are weird but here are some interesting facts about this amazing organ that might just show you how beautiful they really are! Some people call it the 'Tree of life' because the veins on the placenta resemble roots and the cord is like the trunk attached to the mother passing the baby important nutrients and oxygen through the blood.   The placenta is a truly wonderful organ which develops and grows within your uterus during pregna ..read more

Tell us a little about yourself: I'm Hannah - mama to Alba, wife to Matt, adventurer, runner, kindle reader, extreme birth nerd, (bracket over-user), lukewarm hot chocolate drinker, lasagne maker and natural light photo taker.  I pride myself on my kindness, creativity and patience. Although I've been down (or thought about) lots of different paths in trying to find what make my heart do flips (acting school, artist, singer, wedding photographer, midwife etc.), I've always come back to photography and birth. I guess it was only logical to combine the two! For the last couple of years, I h ..read more

Maria & Sergio became very special clients and friends to me during our time together. I was supporting them both as their Doula and Photographer and every time I came to their home I felt so welcome and loved. I always laugh as for our initial meeting/interview they invited me to a bar-b-q they were having with friends that day. I knew straight away they were going to be the perfect clients for me.  Maria was planning a home birth but due to a serious blood pressure complication we transferred into hospital during her labour. She was able to labour at home on and off for two days bef ..read more

How did I become a birth photographer?

How did I become a birth photographer? Wow, this is huge, I guess every birth photographer has their own story, this is mine. There is a really long version, but I won’t bore you with that one right now, I’ll save if for another time. So, here is the shortened version. I had my two children over a decade ago – if I knew then, what I know now, my own experiences of birth would have been quite different. I would have delayed cord clamping and cutting, I would have loved to have seen my placentas and encapsulated them, I would not have cleaned my baby straight away, I would have had immediate sk ..read more
