As a small artisan chocolate company, we take our sourcing very seriously, which is why we took a long time to decide to partner with family run Luker chocolate in Colombia for the majority of our chocolate. Luker Chocolate source their cocoa beans from all around Colombia and turn the beans into chocolate in their factory in the capital of Colombia; Bogota. Once the chocolate has been made, it is then transported to our factory in Somerset, where our talented team of chocolatiers turn it into the truffles, malt balls, bars and honeycomb that our customers love and trust. The reason why we lov ..read more

At the beginning of this year, we decided it was time to overhaul our existing chocolate bar range and we are thrilled to announce that this range has now launched! With the brief in hand, our head chocolatier; Dan, and our factory manage; Mira set about creating a long list of flavours they wanted to experiment with and once this was complete, the experiments could commence.  Throughout the development process, Dan and Mira idenitifed that texture and two tone chocolate b ..read more

Somehow, we’re already in mid-November and the last 11 months have flown by in the blink of an eye.  Our friends over at The Botanical Candle Company wrote a really inciteful blog post about what to expect over the coming weeks, and we thought it was important to follow suit and write our own. In Colombia, hot chocolate con queso is a traditional comfort food across the country.  'Con queso' literally translates to 'with cheese'. Hot chocolate is to Colombia what tea or coffee are to us, so it's a really social beverage, most families making warm cups of cacao with breakfast every day. When Colombians are looking to elevate their already beloved hot chocolate, they add a chunk of cheese to the bottom of the cup. Now that might seem strange, but believe us, the creamy, salty, mild cheese really works with the sweet, smooth hot chocolate.  Colombian hot chocolate is mad ..read more

The Chocolate Society Blog

Halloween has become synonymous with trick or treating, more specifically, with sweets and chocolates.  Halloween or All Hallows’ Eve is celebrated all over the world on the night of the 31st of October.  Generally, these celebrations now involve groups of children dressed up in any given combination of bin liner capes, white face paint, plastic fangs and little sachets of ketchup to squeeze on gory demand. Traditionally, children wander from house to house, demanding ‘trick or treat!’ at every door.  Supposedly intimidated by the spooky brigades’ ‘tricks’ that may or may not be ..read more
