SANTA ROSA, Calif. – A new program brought musical composition to the Sonoma County Jail. Video taken by the Santa Rosa Press Democrat shows an incarcerated man listening to music  he wrote being played by a string quartet across the country in New York. A total of 11 men took part in the 10-week program. Organizers say that learning to write and read music unlocks a new world for people behind bars.  “You can see it in their faces that it gives them hope,” said retired Lt. OAKLAND, Calif. – The California Highway Patrol released video of how they worked to remove protesters from blocking highways and bridges on Monday – several of the protesters stuck their hands into pipes, secured by concrete in barrel drums to stymy officers from removing them.  The video shows a man’s hand pushed through a pipe and held down with concrete inside a 55-gallon drum. Federal officials have discovered damage inside Glen Canyon Dam that could force limits on how much Colorado River water is released at low reservoir levels, raising risks the Southwest could face shortages that were previously unforeseen. The damage was recently detected in four 8-foot-wide steel tubes — called the river outlet works — that allow water to pass through the dam in northern Arizona when Lake Powell reaches low levels. A man suspected of spraying gunfire from atop a Marina del Rey apartment complex over the weekend was identified Monday by authorities. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department identified the suspect as 41-year-old Victoryloc Nguyen, who remains jailed in lieu of $2-million bail. No one was injured in the Saturday night shooting in the 4100 block of Via Marina, according to a written statement from the Sheriff’s Department. A flight that took off from Stockton crashed in a mountain area in San Bernadino County, according to the National Transportation Safety Board. The crash happened on Saturday around 8:21 p.m.The San Bernadino County Sheriff’s Office said the pilot, who was the sole occupant on board, died in the crash. SAN MARTIN – A Caltrain hit an occupied car Monday night in San Martin, according to the commuter rail line. The incident, which involved southbound train no. 410, happened around 6:20 p.m. at Monterey Road and Fitzgerald Avenue, near the San Martin station, the Cal Fire Santa Clara Unit said in a social media post.
