Sprucing Up An Antique Chandelier
Eclectic Spark

When we first bought our old house back in 2016, one of the first things I did was replace all the boring, ugly, builder grade light fixtures. Still, there are a couple of spots in the house where I knew I was putting in temporary lights that would eventually get replaced again. I just couldn’t find the right thing at the time and always had it in the back of my mind to be on the lookout for something better. The dining room is probably the best example of this. I knew I wanted an antique, brass chandelier over the table, but couldn’t find the right one for the right price, so I just got the f ..read more

Front Yard Makeover

If you’ve been following the blog for a while, you may have noticed my posting has been rather sporadic for the past year or so. I used to post quite regularly, but life got pretty chaotic after my second was born. I’m trying to get back into a regular rhythm of posting, and when I went to the old WordPress site and my Google drive to clean and organize, I found some photos that I think I meant to post in a part 3 “final front yard makeover” kind of update back in 2021 or 2022 that I never got around to. Whoops. So we’re just gonna do it now! Enjoy some pretty garden pics and a super satisfyin ..read more

Trying Some Huda Beauty + Thoughts On The Patriarchy, Radicalization And Consumerism

I have to be honest. I never imagined that my makeup life and Huda Beauty would ever cross paths. I have dabbled in her mini eyeshadow palettes in the past. I own the Lilac Obsessions and Mint Obsessions palettes, and I think they’re great! But that’s where I thought Huda and my makeup lives met and parted. Her whole aesthetic, the baking, the huge lips, the fake eyelashes, the acrylic nails…all of that made me dismiss the rest of her makeup line (and her) without even trying it. But I have to admit that I misjudged Huda. I made a lot of assumptions of what her makeup and by extension, she, wa ..read more

Basement Bathroom/Laundry Room Makeover

Basements. They’re cold, they’re dark, they’re dank. If you don’t have an attic, the ghosts in your house are definitely congregating in the basement. Also, spiders. And house centipedes. I say all this to illustrate my belief that making a warm, cozy, inviting basement space is no easy feat. And maybe it was the haze of design fatigue I experienced after a year-long renovation while I was pregnant and giving birth to my second child, but I had a bitch of a time designing the new basement bathroom/laundry room. In the end, a lot of the decisions I made were of the “whatever” variety, which is ..read more

DIY Backyard Remodel | The Flower Garden

The backyard is one of my never-ending works in progress. It’s been about 7 years since we moved in and I think it’s pretty much unrecognizable to when we bought the house. This was the original border garden the house came with. Now, I’m not going to tell you about every single thing that happened between then and now. Did a bumble bee fly into my boot and sting me, like, four times while I was gardening once? Yes. Did a raccoon climb down the side of our house and saunter across the yard like he owned the place, only to never be seen again? Yes. Did a strange giant orange rat creature take ..read more

It’s been a while since I’ve done a makeup post, but truth be told, it’s been a while since I got a haul worth posting about! I’ve been waiting, I want to say….literally a year???…for Lisa Eldridge’s Liquid Lurex Eyeshadow in Zora to come back in stock so I could finally make an order, and the second I got that back in stock email, I knocked over children and the elderly to get to my computer and place my order. If you’re interested in checking out my little mini haul and review, read on! Luxuriously Lucent Lip Colour in Wonder Wheel Velveteen Lip Colour in Ribbon Liquid Lurex Eyeshadow in Zo ..read more

Why hello there. Long time no see. It was not a conscious decision to take a months-long break from the blog, more like it just kind of fell by the wayside as I tried to keep my head above water, re: two kids under 5, summertime, birthdays, house issues, illnesses….otherwise known as “life shit.” Even if I had the time to take photos, edit them, and write my little blurbs and musings about them, what was I gonna write about??? Nothing blog-worthy has been going on in my life lately. No cute DIYs, no room transformations, no big trips. I’m like that friend you have who you don’t talk to for mon ..read more

Traveling With Two Kids Under Four

After not getting on an airplane for three years (the longest I’ve gone without travelling since I was probably 18), I was determined to get back into it in 2022. And get back into it we did! We’ve been on three trips in the past 6 months with our two kids, aged 7 months and 3.5 years, and I feel like I’ve learned a lot about what travelling with young kids is like and certain things you may want to consider if you’re also thinking about travelling with young tots. Of course, this comes with the eternal caveat of, this is what worked for us and for our kids! This might not be applicable to yo ..read more
