Raavan: Enemy of Aryavarta is the third installment in the Ram Chandra series by Amish. I was a bit disappointed with Amish while reading Sita: Warrior of Mithila because it did not appear as path-breaking to me as it should have been. If you are a fan of The Shiva Trilogy, the first mistake you would make is keeping the expectations as high but this series is not even comparable. There are many reasons for it but I do believe that all of us are much close to Ramayana than we would have been to the story of Shiva. Most of us have grown up watching several different adaptations and know all abo ..read more

The Death Cure – Book Review

Somehow, I did not enjoy The Maze Runner series as much as I had wanted. With things coming to a conclusion with The Death Cure, I am still dumbfounded at the purpose of the entire series. Title: The Death Cure Author: James Dashner Publisher: Chicken House Year Published: 2012 Language: English Number of Pages: 329 Genre: Dystopian ISBN: 9781908435200 My Rating: 2 The time for lies is over. Well, this is one of the taglines of this book and it is a really contradictory statement as the truths were never revealed. Anyhow, WICKED has taken everything from Thomas. The trials are final ..read more

“What is this, Anmol?” she held my test paper in her hand and pointed it at me? Clad in a simple saree, wearing no makeup except a simple gloss accentuating the shape of her lips, her brows furrowed in genuine distress. She was angry at me. Yet, I couldn’t find anger in her expressions. She was probably the sweetest mathematics teacher one could ever find in their mid-grades. That might be the reason why no one took her seriously apart from the fact that she had just done her B. El. Ed. I had scored a 63. “You are not a 63 guy, Anmol. I expect 90s from you, bache. I know you can do it; you hav ..read more

I really enjoyed reading The Maze Runner and was impressed with the whole idea as presented by James Dashner. It had a nice pace and even though the character development struggled, it was a fun ride. The Scorch Trials begins right where the first book ends and you know in the first few pages itself that the troubles have only begun for Thomas and the pack. Title: The Scorch Trials Author: James Dashner Publisher: Chicken House Year Published: 2017 Language: English Number of Pages: 384 Genre: Dystopian ISBN: 9789351039686 My Rating: 3 It seems that the Maze was only a beginning. The Last Boy to Fall in Love is my first book on Audible, which I listened to while commuting from Delhi to Chandigarh since reading was not possible on the bus. It is also my first audiobook and frankly, it took me some time to get familiar with the concept but I would not be talking about the merits and demerits of audiobooks here; let me focus on the review. I had purchased The Maze Runner Boxset long back but somehow this has been in my TBR list ever since. With all the movie adaptations released, I thought it was high time I picked up the first book and begin on this journey of this dystopian world designed by James Dashner. Title: The Maze Runner Author: James Dashner Publisher: Chicken House Year Published: 2014 Language: English Number of Pages: 371 Genre: Dystopian ISBN: 9789351033134 My Rating: 4 The plot of The Maze Runner When the doors of the lift crank open, the only thing Thomas can remember is his first name. Wake Up, Life Is Calling – Book Review

Although I had read Wake Up, Life is Calling when it had arrived, I took a long time to actually review it on my blog. There are multiple reasons for that. Foremostly, I really loved reading Life is What You Make It and somehow, I was expecting this book to be a step ahead in Ankita’s life but it all narrowed down to the same things again, which was disappointing. Secondly, Preeti Shenoy claimed this book to be her best yet but that is not the truth. She has written much better books than this (since I read all her books). Third, I wanted to just ponder upon why I did not like the book because ..read more

Among the books I have read of Cecelia Ahern, I have always loved the concept she pulls in. Especially, The Gift was had left me amazed back when I had read it. I have five unread books of Cecelia Ahern in my bookshelf and picking up If You Could See Me Now was a random decision (yeah, I did not know the plot), but I’m quite glad I picked it up because again, I loved the concept and the way she has presented it in this absolutely sweet and refreshing fiction. I just finished watching the Parchhayee Episode 7 on ZEE5. The entire tv series (7 episodes have released so far) is based on the work of Ruskin Bond, a name that would be quite familiar and beloved among book readers, especially the thriller ones. The fact was unknown to me until I watched the episode. The title of the episode ‘Topaz’ caught my attention while I was browsing the streaming website because it was quite unusual for a Hindi show, but at that time I didn’t know that the horror fanatic inside me is up for a lovely treat. Synopsis Parchhayee Episode 7 takes its viewers into the pict ..read more

While I usually read all Preeti Shenoy books, this was left out primarily because it is non-fiction and I’m not really into those. However, I grabbed Why We Love The Way We Do at a good price deal on Amazon and when I had it on my shelf, I couldn’t help but read. Title: Why We Love The Way We Do Author: Preeti Shenoy Publisher: Westland Date Published: November 16th 2015 Language: English Number of Pages: 280 Genre: Non-Fiction ISBN: 9789385724183 My Rating: 3 Why We Love The Way We Do is a collection of essays on relationships based on Preeti Shenoy’s quite popular column in a natio ..read more
