Based on the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases’ (IATF-EID), Philippines’ President Rodrigo Duterte announced the extension of Metro Manila’s general community quarantine (GCQ) and Cebu’s enhance community quarantine (ECQ) from July 1 to July 15 in a late-night news television broadcast last Tuesday. In some good news, Cauayan City in the Cagayan Valley region becomes the first place in the Philippines where no new cases of the notorious COVID-19 have developed. Looks like adventure junkies and thrill-seekers alike traveling to or around the Philippines, would have to postpone their planned hikes up to Mt. Pulag as it has been declared an off-limits zone for a while. Due to forest fires that took place in the surrounding area of Benguet, specifically in Kabayan Town.
