(shirt, shorts) It snowed on us for a bit during the run so that was a fun May surprise. I love my helix piercing but goodness gracious I regret it when my ears are cold because it hurtsssssss. I need to be smart and always wear an ear covering if it’s under 35°. Brooke needed Yogurtland so I made that happen and of course joined her in the goodness. Grocery store sushi makes me very happy and I might be the only one (besides Andrew) with this opinion (especially in a landlocked state ha). Let’s cover the tangents for the day: *How we felt after our 3 mile tempo that we told ourselves we w ..read more

Thank you, Emilee and Jo, for meeting me early on Saturday morning for a run. Thank you, legs, for running our 3-mile segment faster than the previous week. Thank you to the majority of my fake eyelashes for staying on during the windy run. Thank you, Panda, for being open at 9:30 am… Brooke was craving it. Thank you, OB exam, for being over quickly because I dread this exam all year long (but good news… some lumps that recently made me nervous are just cysts)! Thank you to the best snack for reentering my life. Thank you, Andrew, for making jokes while we registered Brooke for JUNIOR HIG ..read more

Sleep and sweats won over going for a run. Yesterday was more painful for Brooke so we took it extra low-key. I’ll be back on Monday with a normal post. Thank you for being the best. Tell me three things you have going on today! The post Extra Silentish Saturday! first appeared on The Hungry Runner Girl ..read more

(shorts, long sleeve, bra, shoes) Back to gloves but at least I can say the shorts are here to say. These bushes that we run by smell like actual grape candy. Day #1 of Tee-ball for Beck occurred. Bless the coaches of the 3-4t team. They are truly angels. Brooke even decided to come to his practice. The doctor warned us that things will get worse for her in the next few days, but we are clinging onto hope that she is somehow the world’s best tonsil removal survivor. My sweet friend brought over blizzards for us and Brooke enjoyed hers while she played Zelda with Andrew. Their goal is to com ..read more

Our life is less than exciting for a few days…

(ribbed tank ((with a built-in bra, and a great deal)), shorts, shoes) Well, day #1 was better than we expected! I also think Brooke is very used to her throat hurting (when they looked at her throat before the surgery, they asked how she could even eat with the state of her tonsils!), so she said her sore throat wasn’t too much worse than normal. Brooke slept in our room, and the tip I was given to keep a humidifier next to her was such a good one. We started the day with ice cream and Netflix. A few hours later, she and Andrew watched a movie, and I went out in the sunshine with Emilee for ..read more

I owe it big time + surgery!

I woke up at 3:15 am with my heart pounding and so much fear about Brooke getting her tonsils out. I think Andrew’s job (he works in organ donation… the sad side of it and the stories are so hard) has made me even more anxious about my kids, and there was no chance I could go to sleep. So, I got up early and ran. A few miles into the run, all of my anxieties disappeared. I felt like everything was going to be okay (it was!) and was able to be in a better place to then be able to help Brooke when I got home. Running does so much for me. I owe it big time. I’m learning that getting the leg turn ..read more

Tangents and restraining order…
The Hungry Runner Girl
by The Hungry Runner Girl

I bought Brooke shorts to match with me. 11 miles @ 8:25 average. Don’t be surprised if I get a restraining order placed on me due to the number of pictures I have taken of Clayton Young and Connor Mantz (just Clayton yesterday). I’m so excited each time I see them. Don’t let anyone ever tell you that oatmeal cookies are not an acceptable breakfast item. The day ended with a rained out game and Skye falling asleep on the fields! Now for the tangents of the day: *I didn’t know the Garmin Fenix 7 had a flashlight on it! You can even set it to blink on and off if you run in the dark so cars c ..read more

Moody + My Recommendation + Our Weekend!
The Hungry Runner Girl

(Long sleeve, tank, shorts) Happy Monday! We finished off last week with a 15-mile long run @ 7:23 pace. We decided to throw in a 20-minute tempo on a slight down/flat section and I made the choice to see how poorly I could pace it;). I went out so fast, and I started seeing more stars with each minute. I guarantee when I am 70 years old I will still be making this mistake at times. The canyon was especially moody on Saturday. I often get questions about recommendations for running coaches, and goodness, do I have one for you today. I have known Kodi for years, and besides her impressive ti ..read more

(Tank, shorts, socks) 10 miles total for my Wednesday—> 7.5 with friends before the kids went to school, and 2.5 alone after we took the kids to school while listening to Taylor Swift. Speaking of Taylor Swift, I have narrowed down the new 31-track album to my top 11 that I will listen to on repeat for at least 4 months… It took me some time to warm up to this album but I love these songs now. These two found me while I was out running—>  Beck thrives when he is home alone with us. My legs started feeling it from the previous day’s workout and the hot tub was the only soluti ..read more

Liar liar.
The Hungry Runner Girl

(Shorts, bra, tank) The liar in me came out again.  I told myself and the others that I was doing a shortened version of a ladder our friend was doing.  Instead, I did the full workout once I got moving.  If doing workouts or getting out the door is hard, I need you to lie.  These types of lies don’t affect your integrity as a human; they get you to do hard things.  I truly believe my lie, and it gets me to push start on my watch, and once I get going, I’ll do the full workout. The workout—> 1600m, 1200m, 2 x 800m, 2 x 400m, 2 x 200m with one lap recovery jog betwee ..read more
