2019 Never Before Seen Behind-The-Scenes

I feel like I always start off these blog posts with, ‘what a crazy, hectic, stressful, beautiful year’. And…well…I have to agree with myself for this year as well! Zayn was due to be born in January 2019, but he came earlier than expected and decided that 2018 would be his birth year instead. It still didn’t diminish the fact that I was pumping at every single one of my weddings this year (I have to give myself a pat on the back for making it through), and coming back home to two adorable children who like waking up at 6am the very next day, sometimes 5am too! But I was very proactive thi ..read more

A Tropical Destination Wedding in Mexico | Lauren + Skylar

Lauren knew that a destination wedding to Mexico was the perfect way to celebrate their incredible love story and marriage.  Together, with 60 of their family members and closest friends, against the backdrop of the exquisite Mexican riviera, they said their I do’s and celebrated the night away with sand between their toes and a wave of palm trees swaying in the warm tropical breeze.   That morning, Lauren got ready with three of her closest friends, while Skylar and the groomsmen relaxed in the water before the beach ceremony took place.  Lauren brought Ottawa with her to Mexico, with an intr ..read more

An Urban Ottawa Art Gallery Engagement | Ashlin + Blake

Ashlin and Blake met two years ago to this month at a science policy conference when Ashlin decided to join a table of other young people at lunch.  They found out that they had similar research interests and kept in touch over the year sending research articles to one another and pep talking about grad school.  The next year, at the very same conference, the group that they had hung out with weren’t there, so Ashlin and Blake buddied up attending most of the same panels and enjoying meals together.  They soon realized that they had a lot more in common beyond research. Their interests in cam ..read more

A Modern Cliffside Wedding at Le Belvedere in Wakefield | Hayley + Owen

What a way to end our Ottawa / Gatineau 2019 wedding season with Hayley and Owen’s gorgeous cliffside wedding at Le Belvedere, my favourite venue!  I first met Hayley at her sister’s all white chic Brockville wedding two years ago, so we were ecstatic that her and Owen reached out to us to photograph their wedding in Wakefield.  It was that much more special for me to be there!   Hayley also chose her wedding vendors very well! All my favourite artists working together to make their dream wedding come true.  Klava Zykova made her up with a fall glam look that worked perfectly with her long loo ..read more

A Coral and Burgundy Evermore Wedding in Almonte | Val + Paul

I have been counting the days to Val and Paul’s Evermore wedding!  From the moment I met these two at Bridgehead last year, I knew they had something very special.  And it all started as a fluke when they met at an event they were both working at and Paul passed Val his number on a napkin (check out their love story and National Gallery of Canada engagement photos here!) The rain poured all day long.  But, Val and Paul took it as a sign of good luck and enjoyed the ‘getting ready’ portion of the day with their families until Val walked down the aisle under a huge, floral-filled tent surrounded ..read more

Rainy Gatineau Park Engagement Shoot | Wendy + Ryan

Ryan, the small-town guy, and Wendy, the city-girl, came to Ottawa to have their engagement session in Gatineau Park. They were in town for this one weekend, so they dredged the gloomy, rainy day and made it look like a breeze. They were open to getting wet in the rain, and it made for some of my favourite engagement photos to date! A little bit of open-mindedness and a sense of adventure is all you need to enjoy your engagement shoot and have incredible results too. These two will be getting married at Stonefields next year and I’m so excited to be documenting this special time in their ..read more

Nepean Point Engagement Shoot | Hayley + Owen

Hayley and Owen first met at the Heart and Crown in Ottawa 6 years ago where they danced the night away, and 2018 was the year that marked Owen’s planned proposal in downtown Toronto.  They travelled to Toronto for the weekend to watch the Blue Jays for Hayley’s birthday. They popped a bottle of champagne in their hotel room and decided the game plan for the day. They’d first stop at Nathan Phillips Square, then Bang Bang Ice Cream and end off at the Harbour for lunch.  But because of heavy Toronto traffic, they were delayed and didn’t make it for ice cream. Instead, they ditched their uber ..read more

A Sophisticated Ottawa Wedding at the Museum of History | Emily + Dan

This blog post has been so much fun to create. Emily and Dan tied the knot this fall at the Museum of History in one of the most elegant and sophisticated weddings I’ve shot to date!   Our favourite parts of the day: an emotional first look with her father in their backyard, overlooking Dowe’s Lake; an incredible view of Parliament and the Ottawa River during their portraits, and a heck of a reception entrance dancing their way down one long escalator.  Oh, and lets not forget their choice of a donut cake, by Mavericks Donuts.  These two have got to be my soul-mate dessert lovers.   Courtney ..read more
