Back into the swing of things! I intended to hit the 2024 wedding season running and Graeme and Jonny’s wedding was an absolutely perfect way to start. After the downtime of Christmas and New Year the nerves are always jangling, especially shooting with two new cameras and some new technology: what if I’ve forgotten how to shoot? What if all the knowledge and photography reflexes that I’ve built up over the last couple of decades has dripped out of my ears and I look like a lost amateur in front of the entire wedding party? What if I miss all the important bits? :-D Of course none of this ever ..read more

Montrose St. Glasgow Registry Office | Micro Wedding | Sara + John

This was my last wedding of 2023 and what a way to go! Sara and John were soon to be emigrating to a new life in Australia after maintaining a long distance relationship for the last few years. It was evident just from the short time that I spent with them, what a strong, loving bond they had and how excited they were to be embarking on a new chapter of their lives together. But with that also came the huge emotion of a life in Scotland left behind. As soon as the couple arrived at the Montrose Street registry office in Glasgow, the happy/ sad tears were flowing freely and it was lovely to wit ..read more

I say this every year, but it’s so hard to choose just a few favourites from a year of photographing weddings. So many moments happen, some of the moments stick out to me as the photographer; maybe the lighting was really cool, maybe I worked particularly hard to get the right shot, maybe it’s a really crazy instant that I skilfully managed to snap, maybe the moment was really emotional. So many of these moments happen at each wedding. Though they are not necessarily always the moments that burn the most strongly with the couples themselves - maybe there was a poignant moment with gran, maybe ..read more

Cottiers Theatre Wedding | Autumn Wedding Photography | Niabh + Charlie

It was a pleasure and a blast to attend Niabh & Charlie’s wedding - a mixture of Hallowe’eny autumnal vibes and the warmth and fun of a friends & family get together. The wonderfully unique Cottiers wedding venue in Glasgow’s West End hosted, and it’s interestingly not the first time I’ve shot a Hallowe’en themed wedding here; I guess the gothic kinda look and the funky lighting inside go hand in hand with that theme! And on a side note - the under floor heating really helps to keep chilly photographers joints form seizing up ;-) The colour palette was suitably autumnal with the brides ..read more

Having met Stephanie and Scott for their pre-wedding photography session at the beautiful Tyninghame Beach in East Lothian, I already knew their wedding would be ace. Nature and beach lovers, the timing of the wedding was no coincidence - we we’re looking for the full force of Autumn magic, and The Royal Botanic Gardens brought its A-game! A rustic, autumnal celebration with nods to Lord of the Rings, Marvel, and a touch of Halloween spookiness. THAT, is the kind of party I’d like an invite to! Stephanie grew up near the Royal Botanic Gardens, visiting often, and it became her happy place. In ..read more

As a Glasgow wedding photographer, I always enjoy a trip down the West Coast. Rumour has it that they have the most incredible sunsets… :-) A Party by the Sea Catalina and Mark’s wedding was to be a relaxed and heartwarming coming together of family and friends from all over the globe. Catalina's family travelled all the way from Colombia to join in the celebrations and from the moment I arrived I was treated with such warmth - I think I ate 3 separate breakfasts! The speeches later in the day were a delightful multilingual affair too. Having already photographed a winter family session for Ca ..read more

Barn at Harburn Wedding | Countryside Love and Feline Charm | Laura + Michael (+ Betty)

Laura and Michael’s wedding was a feast of good vibes, countryside charm and (some unexpectedly!) emotional moments. Not forgetting the actual feast - a bonanza buffet spread, which was indeed…extremely feasty! The Barn at Harburn, with its rustic charm is the ideal blank canvas venue for a couple like Laura and Michael whose priority was just a downright fun day for their friends and family. There were party games galore - mini golf, sack tossing, live, acoustic music, and a mobile escape van. At some points I was jealous that I was there to work! An honourable mention has to go to the couple ..read more

It was a pleasure to be back once more at the beautiful Barony Castle for the wedding of Georgina & Brandon. Such an elegant wedding and relaxed vibe, the day was a delight to record. Georgina in particular is a fan of photography, and apparently did some THOROUGH research when choosing her photographer…so I would hate to disappoint! ;-D Congratulations guys ..read more

What a way to spend a Friday morning! Chillin on the beach, talking pets and getting our feet stabbed up by pointy rocks! ;-) I was new to this beautiful hidden gem of a beach at Tyningham in East Lothian that Stephanie and Scott chose for their pre-wedding photoshoot location. Being avid beach hoppers, they had only recently discovered this lovely spot and rightly thought that it would be the perfect place for their session. Views, dunes and sun - awesome! I even discovered a wee trick for removing sand from my feet! I’m now really looking forward to their Hallowe’en themed wedding this Autum ..read more
