Is Liftoff a good FPV sim?
You can skip straight to the drone-flying video further down, otherwise keep reading to find out exactly why I think Liftoff is an invaluable tool to learn to fly FPV drones or quadcopters.
I have been flying camera drones since 2014 and consider myself an experienced pilot. I fly drones regularly for automotive shoots in particular as this is my full-time job.
But I’m looking for a little more thrill and have had a growing interest in FPV drones and the freedom they offer.

For over a decade whilst living in London, I shot photos of Londoners. Street photography is how my photography career began and it is what attracted my first photography clients.
When I began in 2008, there weren’t so many people dedicated to the street photography genre but the rise of Instagram popularised it and the masses embraced it.
Olympus cameras were one of the first brands to notice my work and enrolled me in their Ambassador program, I was an Olympus ambassador for nearly 5 years with my work used in print advertising campaigns for their early micro four-thirds cameras.

My photography website generates on average 250,000 page views per year and at a time when Instagram is seeing photographers jumping ship from frustration with the social media platform which now favours videos, a photography website is still as relevant as it’s ever been.
Why should a photographer have a website?
1 - A website escapes trends
A website is freedom from Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Flickr, Vero and the rest. Social media platforms are time-consuming and many people put in a lot of time in them for often very little return. Especially when for example Instagram makes it hard to b ..read more

I still find it hard to believe that my photography-learning book, How to take amazing photos, will soon be released.
This is not a self-published photography book, instead, a reputable publisher established in London for over 30 years, approached me and asked me to write it.
What a trip.
OK, let’s rewind a bit and pay attention as this next bit could help some of you wondering how to get more online visibility.
My website generates 250,000 page views on average every year, 72% of which come through organic search, through Google.

This latest aerial drone video showcases Bruton, Somerset. Including Bruton’s high street, Hauser & Wirth Somerset and Bow Bridge, a Grade I listed 15th-century packhorse bridge over the River Brue.
Bruton is only 2h20mn from London Paddington by train, an easy escape from urban life and only a short walk to open fields and woodland.
I hope you enjoyed this aerial drone video of Bruton, Somerset. Perhaps will visit when next in the South West.
Until next time,
Nico

When shooting clips with a drone with a view of creating a video/film there are as many workflows as there are videographers. I’m going to share here my tips for drone filming in the hope it can help others enjoy the process as much as I do.
I’ve been flying drones since 2014, admittedly not intensively initially but gradually ramping up to where we are today and I fly a drone multiple times a week if not daily when the weather allows.
This takes me to my first tip which is:
The more you fly drones the better you will fly drones
Practice makes perfect but flying aimlessly up, down, forwards, a ..read more
