Yesterday was a beautiful day for Animal Rescue! Sun was shining and the rescue teams were out and ready to save 65 dogs and pups, plus one very pregnant momma that was about to go into labor. Thank you to our Kentucky friends at Kentucky Saving Them Together, Inc. who saved many of these pups from euthanasia, parvo, being dumped on the side of a road, and abandoned by their families. This rescue is in memory of Grace’s dog Buddy, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge in September 2023. It was a long weekend for the NDLB crew, but always worth it! Our 2nd transport yesterday went from Kentucky to Empire Animal Rescue Society (EARS) in New York. 18 dogs and 7 cats made the journey to safety and for a few it was just in time as they were on the list for euthanasia. 21 cats and one pup had quite an adventure today with our NDLB team! The sun was shining bright this morning during our pickup with DACR (Dream Away Cat Rescue) Then our travels began through West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and finally to Providence Animal Center in Media, PA. Riot, the 11week pup, was a trooper and enjoyed every moment even though he was surrounded by cats Everyone was given some love, plenty of food, and a cozy spot to rest after such a long day. From rain storms this morning to sunshine this afternoon, our team made sure this fur crew of 61 made it to safety! Thank you to Dave and Scott for spending 2 days on the road to rescue. First stop was in Lexington to meet the amazing foster team from Kentucky Saving Them Together, Inc. This might have been the coldest transport day in quite some time, at -3 during load in! So lots of cuddles and cozy blankets for this fur crew as we left Kentucky and headed north to Ohio. Our NDLB team, Tiffany and Tony, bundled up for the 2 day journey to bring 54 pups to safety. First stop was Wayne County Humane Society in Wooster, Ohio. The Dollar General pups got off here. They got that name because they were found in a box outside of a Dollar General in Kentucky.
