Two civil rights groups are calling for an investigation into “alarming reports” about a 29-year-old immigrant with a disability who was allegedly assaulted repeatedly by deputies at a Calhoun County jail that has contracts to serve as an immigration detention facility. I haven’t seen a movie that edges its audience with more cruel glee than Challengers, Luca Guadagnino’s latest horny-in-theory story of complicated romance. Anyone expecting a moist-and-sweaty Jules et Jim set in the competitive world of professional tennis, which is what I thought when I kept seeing the trailer, will be slightly disappointed (and even a bit impressed) by how much this movie teases you. So the Detroit Symphony Orchestra is bringing disco home, so to speak, for its upcoming “Disco Fever” program as part of its PNC Pops Series ..read more
