http://www.acsu.buffalo.edu/~dtaylor/Blog04-30-20.m4a Today is the last day of classes for the 4th Quarter. Thank you so much for reading the blog and answering the question every day. I am sorry to tell you that there will be no classes at the EOC in May or June. Please stay in touch with your counselor to find out if there will be classes in July and when classes will begin again in the fall. Because of the Coronavirus pandemic, it is a very uncertain time in the world, but I hope you have a good summer. Most of all, I wish that you and your families stay safe and healthy. I’ll miss you! http://www.acsu.buffalo.edu/~dtaylor/Blog04-29-20.m4a On April 18 musicians from around the world gave a concert to recognize health care workers  and to support the World Health Organization in response to the coronavirus pandemic.  The concert was livestreamed and recorded on YouTube. Musicians from all over the world recorded songs from their homes. My favorite performance was by Keith Urban. He sang the song “Higher Love,” but he performed it 3 times and then put together a video that made it look like all 3 of him were performing at the same time. You can see that performance be ..read more

http://www.acsu.buffalo.edu/~dtaylor/Blog04-16-19.m4a Every morning I read The Buffalo News newspaper. It gives me a lot of information about what is happening in Buffalo, in the country, and around the world. I also get news on the internet. I look at CNN and other news websites. Many people watch the news on television. Today’s question is: How do you get news about Buffalo, the United States, your country and the world ..read more

http://www.acsu.buffalo.edu/~dtaylor/Blog04-23-19.m4a I usually read books or magazines because I like to hold them and turn the pages. I read some books on my iPad. I read the news on my iPad or on my phone. Of course, I read texts on my phone. I read in bed before going to sleep almost every night. It relaxes me so I can go to sleep. I also have a comfortable chair in my living room where I read, and I like to read when I am at the beach.   Today’s question is: How do you usually read? Where do you usually read ..read more

http://www.acsu.buffalo.edu/~dtaylor/Blog04-23-20.m4a Ramadan is beginning this weekend. It is an important Muslim holy time. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and lasts for 30 days. People around the world observe the month of Ramadan by fasting between sunrise and sunset. By fasting, people learn to be patient and practice self-discipline. When the sun has gone down, the fast is broken with an evening meal. Ramadan is a time to be grateful for good things people usually take for granted. At this difficult time in the world, I think it is good for everyone to be grateful for ..read more

http://www.acsu.buffalo.edu/~dtaylor/Blog04-22-20.m4a Today is Earth Day. Usually on Earth Day, people do things to help the environment. They clean beaches, recycle cans, bottles, and newspapers, donate money to environmental groups, sign petitions, and teach others about the importance of protecting the environment.  Of course, this year Earth Day will be celebrated a little differently because of social isolation. However, it is still important to remember how important our planet is and that we should take care of it. Happy Earth Day! Today’s question is: What can we do to help the e ..read more

http://www.acsu.buffalo.edu/~dtaylor/Blog04-04-19.m4a I have been to many parts of the United States, but not to every state. Two states that I have not visited are Alaska and Hawaii. They are part of the United States, but they are not connected to the the rest of the country. I would like to visit both of these states. Hawaii is very warm and tropical. Alaska is very cold and has glaciers and beautiful scenery. Today’s question is: Where is a place in the United States that you would like to visit?   ..read more

http://www.acsu.buffalo.edu/~dtaylor/Blog04-20-20.m4a We’re beginning our 6th week of distance learning and social isolation. I miss my students and getting together with friends. However, I also understand how important it is to stay safe and healthy. I am very proud of my students who continue to read the blog and answer the questions. What about your other classes? I hope you are keeping up with your other classes, too. Today’s question is: How do you feel about distance learning? What classes are hard and what classes are easy with distance learning ..read more
