Chanel Dad Sandals Look4Less

In truth these were not an instant love. They remind me a little of Birkenstock’s, not the most aesthetically pleasing but comfort is key and they do grow on you! Others must feel the same way because the Chanel Dad sandal has become the “it” shoe of the Summer. The fact that we are beginning to succumb to the fact that this Summer may once again be one of stay-cations and long local walks may explain their rise in popularity. Like many Chanel items it’s almost impossible to get your hands on these sandals, if you do they retail for £940. For a trend shoe I’d always buy a cheaper alternative ..read more

Max Mara Fur Hooded Wool Coat Look4Less

There’s nothing chicer than a Max Mara coat. This particular hooded coat gives me ‘fashion-girl’ wearing a duvet out of the house kind of vibes – in a good way! It looks elegant and luxurious, all the while being snuggle-worthy. In the fashion world we often frivolously throw around the words ‘timeless’ or ‘investment piece’. It’s fair to say that a classic good quality black or camel coat will always stand the test of time. On the other hand, while I love a Winter white I’ll admit I’d buy the Look4Less just because I wouldn’t trust myself to keep a white coat pristine! This H&M coat ..read more

Hello 2021
High Street Couture

So 2020 was a lot! While things may not change like magic in this New Year, it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t throw everything into it (and that includes getting dressed up for the sitting room)! There haven’t been many events to get dressed up for so give your shoes a day-out(in), throw on some big earrings and pour yourself a glass of bubbly! Sending all my love your way as we all try to start afresh and stumble through a new year together. K x The post Hello 2021 appeared first on High Street Couture ..read more

The Beauty of a Handwritten Note
High Street Couture
by Kiki

I love getting post. Oh my gosh if I get something that isn’t a bill I relish it. I spend time looking at the address and noting the handwriting. I adore holding someone’s thoughts in my hands. Knowing they sat down to put their thoughts into beautiful works and then to stamp them and send them to me. There’s something about receiving a handwritten letter or note that makes me feel incredibly special in a way I cannot explain. I mean, it takes time and shows the effort that the sender went to. We live in a world where it’s so easy to send an instant message but sending a handwritten note cost ..read more

Now I’m not one for making bread, all that kneading and waiting to proof…frankly I don’t have the patience. However this little beast may have changed my mind. This recipe is so easy, once you’ve made it once you’ll be able to whip it up any time you feel like it. You’ll need…. 2 mugs of warm water 1 tablespoon granulated sugar Active dry yeast (7g) (most supermarkets sell this in handy sachets) Olive oil – 4 tablespoons 1 teaspoon salt 680g plain flour Flaked salt for sprinkling More olive oil for drizzling, oiling the pan etc….. For decoration………. Petals – Cherry tomatoes, Mini sweet peppe ..read more

Lockdown Banana Bread Recipe

A weekend sweet treat….. It’s fair to say I’m no master baker. However much like half of instagram, I hopped on the banana bread trend during the quarantine period. I can safely say this is an easy bake – If you’re new to the world of baking, this is for you! After some trial and error I’ve perfected my banana bread recipe. I’ve played around with this a lot, I used to make it plain with no nuts (still delish) and then I added chocolate chips (dark are much better). If the bananas aren’t fully ripe yet I pop them in the oven while it’s preheating to soften them and bring out the flavour. Rig ..read more

Almost Autumn Knitwear
High Street Couture

Summer 2020 – Well it feels a little like the lost Summer, a little soggy to say the least. Autumn is one of my favourite months. Primarily because I love the fashion – wool tights and big coats. However I think this year will be a little different. I’m still working from home so it’ll be less wool coats and more cozy knitwear. There’s something about September that always feels like a new beginning, a new year is starting. I guess that’s something that has been ingrained in me since school. When investing in new knits I balance between high street and high quality. Every year I try to invest ..read more

A day in Dingle, Ireland…Like a Local
High Street Couture

On a clear day there’s nowhere better than the Dingle peninsula. This peninsula has the perfect Irish charm, and is a great day trip from anywhere in Kerry. The peninsula is the most westerly in Ireland and houses many villages, however Dingle is the main town. If you’re planning a staycation this year you can definitely add this one to your list. Despite the fact that it has a certain “upscale” aura about it, Dingle is still very much a fishing town at heart. Getting there…. There are two ways to get to Dingle from the Tralee side (Train station, Airport). The first and undoubtably most we ..read more

Prada Emblème Linen Shoulder Bag Look4Less
High Street Couture

The Emblème shoulder bag is a new release by Prada for Summer 2020. Personally, I wouldn’t spend this much on a canvas linen bag which only has leather accents. From previous experience with Gucci and Fendi canvas (which is a lot darker), no matter how careful you are, jeans/dark trousers will transfer on to the canvas. If I did buy this bag I’d probably only wear it with Summer dresses or very light coloured linens. The Prada bag is €1850 but if you’re looking for something similar the below bag from Mango ticks all the boxes for just €16. Shop either bag at the bottom of this post. The pos ..read more
