We flew into Morrocco from Luton London to Marrakesh but left Manchester at midnight for the early flight at 6am from Luton and arrived 10.30am local time. I arranged the whole trip for my friends, the same friends who came to Keswick, Lake District in September for a practice hike up Blencathra. We arrived in Marrakesh and was collected by taxi and headed to Imlil which was in the Atlas Mountains and our start point for the two-day trek to the top of Mt Toubkal. 21’000 people in the UK registered their vans as dwellings this year…. and still, a few are negative about vanlife privacy. People living in vans, cars or anything that moves has happened since the bloody wheel was invented in 3500BC and greeks slept in wheelbarrows. It’s crazy to think I’ve been back in the UK 20 months now and still living in the van fulltime. It’s also been a busy 20 months as I’ve worked around the country, training and supporting new managers and staff all over the north of the UK. It’s Friday…..finished work for the week and I have to leave Glasgow and head down to Snowdonia National Park, Wales for my mountain leadership course. Will I make it there tonight?…..3 hours after leaving work, I had to pull over near The Lakes for a sleep and get up early to get to Plas Y Brenin in Capel Curig for 9am welcome meeting to meet the people I’m going to spend the rest of the week with.
