Are there any spots that play the golden oldies?

Hello, all. My mother is elderly and has been pretty sick lately. She absolutely loves the golden oldies type of music (50's, 60's and 70's). I am looking to see if there are any places I could take her for her to enjoy the music or atmosphere of that time period. Perhaps maybe a bar, a music club, or even a restaurant with this kind of vibe. Anything really. She lights up whenever she gets to listen to her favorites ? Alternatively, I am also looking to see if there are places with a piano and soft live music. Or live poetry. Thank you so much! submitted by /u/asentienttaco [visit reddit ..read more

Cantonese-speaking doctors in Houston area

Recently, a family member was diagnosed with a disease that required a lot of discussion on the medical diagnosis and treatment options. My family member primary speaks Cantonese (Chinese) and understands very little English. While family members and virtual interpreters did help translate what the doctors were saying to Cantonese, it wasn’t fluid and some things got lost in translation. I went out looking for a Cantonese-speaking provider in the Houston area and initially found that this info wasn’t readily available. Ultimately through word of mouth and calling around, I was able to find a ..read more

Has anyone found a good internet provider for apartments that are pre-wired with AT&T?

I'm about to move apartments so will have to set up internet again, and I was wondering if anyone has found a better solution/provider that has good, cheap internet, especially in apartments that are "pre-wired" for AT&T (I don't fully understand what that means, assuming it just means I have to get AT&T wifi through some provider). In my current place, the wifi refuses to work on my phone after 10pm for more than a few minutes at a time, and the wifi is frequently low or drops during the day too. Verizon or cricket whatever that say they're $15/month (I'm paying nearly $90 right now ..read more

HCC is charging almost 700$ for a single summer class, I am not sure when they increased the prices but it’s too much for me. Is there any way around this? Any help would be appreciated submitted by /u/fruitypeblesforeva [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Lack of Pedestrian Crossings/Coverings Over Lights

I just moved to Houston and am living just east of Rice Military by the HEB on Washington Ave. I'm really confused because the area is walkable (lots of bars/food/shopping/apts) but there are few Pedestrian lights at intersections. Even more confusing are the burlap (cloth) covers over random Pedestrian lights. I almost got hit a couple of times trying to walk 2 blocks to HEB today (after a 45 minute commute home haha). submitted by /u/elykedaw [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
