Backwash Idea

My pool was re-done last year and we switched to a sand filter (which I absolutely love, but that’s another story.) The ONLY problem is when I backwash, I have to dump all that water into our yard based on where everything is situated. BUT - we’re having some plumbing redone and there is an opportunity to add a drain about 30 feet away from the pool machinery. My question is would it be a TERRIBLE idea to use a couple of reducers to take this 2 inch pipe that sprays dirty water into my yard down to a 3/4inch opening that I could connect to a garden hose, and then politely direct this dirty wa ..read more

My pool level is too low however if I raise it any further it will submerge the autofill supply line. You can see it’s basically sitting at water level as it it already. Would this cause problems? submitted by /u/kman2010 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Any thoughts on this design? I'm looking to get this built later this year. It slops from 3' to 5'. I'm open to any good ideas any of you might have. https://preview.redd.it/13b9byvd2avc1.jpg?width=1249&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd3fe96e5e9d54943f2c1dbdce485107ffe22912 https://preview.redd.it/tdm3iyvd2avc1.jpg?width=1301&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c1e7cc94d64acc1c42d59f17c4888b6eebc1eb81 submitted by /u/bjvista [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Do I need to put in the full capacity pounds for sand filter if I buy oversized?

I have a 22 ft round x 52" deep above ground pool. It's just an easy set style pool by Bestway. I've learned to overbuy this time. I did not last time and had a mess of a time with all the intex equipment always being tapped out. Backwashing all the time, salt gen failed due to the cell having to work 100% all the time, etc. I am getting a 1.5hp variable speed pump, and a Salt generator rated for 20k gallons. I am looking at 19" Sand filters since they are rated for approx 20k gallons as well. I am also planning to use glass as I just learned that's a thing too lol. I know you can use less gl ..read more

I have an existing in-ground pool, with concrete pool deck. Can anyone recommend a “retro-fit” sleeve for an umbrella? I’ve seen a lot about installs when building a pool, but specifically want something for an existing pool submitted by /u/fllyaccted [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

How do you handle pool maintenance during extreme weather conditions, like heavy rain or snow?

I've been dealing with some crazy weather lately, and it's seriously throwing my pool maintenance game out of whack. Like, last week we had this insane downpour that turned my backyard into a mini lake, and now there's talk of snow coming in. Snow! In April! Anyway, I'm kinda scratching my head here wondering how you all handle pool maintenance when Mother Nature decides to go all out. Like, do you cover your pool with a tarp or something during heavy rain? Or does anyone have tips for dealing with snow on a pool cover without it collapsing? submitted by /u/Engineer_Measly789 [visit reddit ..read more
