No Rest For The Wicked is a dark and dangerous addition to the action RPG genre

Accompanied by strains of vocal-led orchestral music, the Moon Studios title rises into view. For many, this is reason enough to sit up and take notice of No Rest For The Wicked. For the studio behind the sublime Ori series, a visually arresting and emotional pair of platformers, this is the tricky third album: a new IP, a new direction, and a launch into Early Access along with it. Taking a swing at the action RPG genre, there’s echoes of From Software alongside Diablo here, and yet, Moon Studios’ enigmatic outlook shines through. On first impressions alone, there’s nothing to be worried abou ..read more

What We Played #650 – No Rest For The Wicked, Helldivers 2 & Stellar Blade

The sun has got his hat on, at least in the north of England, but it’s still bloody freezing so I wouldn’t bother going outside quite yet. I’ve had a week of playing Fallout 4, and it’s very good indeed. Almost as good as the TV show that made me start playing it. Besides that, I’ve been sampling the somewhat confusing delights of Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road, and made a start with No Rest For The Wicked’s Early Access launch. It’s very good! Tuffcub has been playing Destiny 2. Obviously. He also ‘finished’ Cult of Lamb which was “good if a little easy”, and has been playing more Helldivers 2 ..read more

We don’t have any other Spidey news for now, though there have been ..read more

Is there a Kingdom Come Deliverance PS5 upgrade?
TheSixthAxis
by Jim Hargreaves

With the recent announcement of a sequel, RPG fans are no doubt wondering if there is a Kingdom Come Deliverance PS5 upgrade available. Since Sony launched its latest console, there has been a raft of older games from the PS4 library to receive free patches, boosting their performance – just take a look at the recent Fallout 4 PS5 upgrade. At the time of writing we can confirm that there is no PS5 upgrade for Kingdom Come Deliverance. It was wishful thinking, but we had half hoped that Czech developer, Warhorse Studios, would announce a PS5 version of its original medieval RPG ahead of the 202 ..read more

The Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road beta brings the football RPG into a confusing new era

If you asked me what my favourite football née soccer game is, it wouldn’t be anything as prosaic as FIFA, Pro Evo or Football Manager. It wouldn’t even be Sega Soccer Slam – though that’s a close second. It would be Inazuma Eleven. The fact that it is as much a Pokémon-esque RPG where you’re collecting football players as it is an actual game of football only makes it better. As does the fact that it, and its mainline sequels, were all played with the Nintendo DS’ stylus. If I’m being honest, the fact that it’s only vaguely a football game at all is probably what makes it my favourite footbal ..read more

Cities: Skylines 2 developer Colossal Order has posted a clear apology over the current state of the game and is issuing refunds for the recently released Beach Properties DLC, which went down like a lead balloon with the community. The console release of the game has been further delayed as a consequence of a renewed focus on improving the base game on PC. “We see and understand the disappointment” company CEO Mariina Hallikainen and Deputy CEO Mattias Lilja wrote in a joint statement. “We asked for your patience and support, and you’ve shown those. In return, we let you down. We thought we c ..read more

The long-awaited Fallout 4 upgrades for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are coming out later this month on 25th April and if, like me, you have got rid of your physical copy of Fallout 4 many years ago then you may like to know that you can buy the game right now for just £3.99 on the PlayStation Store. You can also grab the Season Pass which gives you all the published DLC for £11.54, so that’s around fifteen quid for the whole lot. If you have more money than sense you can buy the exact same content in the Game of the Year edition for £34.99. The free upgrades for the current generation of consoles ..read more

Zombie Army VR gets a story teaser trailer ahead of 2024 launch

There’s a fresh trailer for Zombie Army VR, teasing the game’s undead sniping antics ahead of a launch for PSVR 2, Meta Quest 2, 3 and Pro, and PC VR via Steam later this year. You’ll once again join the Deadhunters – not the Dadhunters, as I nearly just typed – on a quest to free Europe from the zombie apocalypse that was triggered in the closing stages of World War 2. While we’ve defeated Zombie Hitler a few times now in the main series, this game will take place alongside those events, as the Deadhunters head to the city of Nuremberg to help Captain Hermann Wolff, the Deadhunters’ lea ..read more

Dead Island 2 expansion SoLA is out now – see the update #5 patch notes here
TheSixthAxis

Dead Island 2 – SoLA, the second big story expansion for the zombie bashing sequel, is out now, taking players to a Californian music festival to battle yet more hordes of the undead. The SoLA music festival was unfortunately built on “ancient ground”, which means there’s potentially an even more supernatural twist to the already outlandish zombie virus that has ravaged LA. Now you’ll be fighting zombies in the glammed up setting of a music festival, with a psychadelic beat pumping out from the plethora of loud speakers around the site – the Beat of the Autophage is apparently responsible for ..read more
