DARLING DU LARGE (FR) added another chase win to her name at Uttoxeter earlier this month with a decisive win in the 2m Handicap Chase. Johnny held her up in the rear of the field before making a strong challenge turning for home and pulling well clear of her rivals. We are delighted she was able to get a win on the board at Simon Clarke’s local track. She remains at the right end of the handicap and could be a suitable candidate for a trip across the channel.
Our Conditional Jockey Thomas Doggrell has been picking up more outside rides and recently landed back-to-back wins on O’Faolains Lad ..read more

ROCK ON ROCCO (IRE) took full advantage of a good opportunity at Uttoxeter two weeks ago to gain his third win of the season in the two runner Novices Handicap Chase. He sat off the leader who wasn’t jumping with much fluency, before taking the lead two from home and pulling clear under Tom Scudamore. The handicapper only put him up 2lb so he should remain competitive for owner Roger Brookhouse.
The majority of the winter horses are on to their second schooling session so we should be busy from mid-October when the rain
arrives.

CASA TALL (FR) produced a career best effort at Newton Abbot last weekend in the eventful 2m Handicap Chase. He travelled smoothly under Johnny after surviving an early scare caused by a faller and went on to score quite readily. The handicapper only raised him two pounds so there’s every chance he could follow up for owners Tony Outhart, Judith Moran, Sharon Nelson, Dermot O’Donohoe & David
McDermott.

BALLON ONABUDGET (IRE) got back to winning ways at Uttoxeter last month, securing his fourth win for The Little Faith Partnership in the 2m7f Handicap Hurdle. The first-time cheek pieces had the desired effect and he kept on well in the closing stages to take the lead over the last and pull clear under Johnny Burke. He could bid to follow up off a 3lb higher mark at Stratford on Monday.

group of horses came back into training on Monday and have summered well. There’s plenty of exciting new faces
amongst them that will now be geared towards a bumper campaign.

MOSAMBO (IRE) got off the mark at Ffos Las on Friday in the 3m Mares Handicap Hurdle. She has been progressing nicely for her owners Somerset Racing since stepping up in trip. She travelled strongly under Ciaran Gethings and was always doing enough after being left in front two from home. She’s up 4lb for the win but looks more than capable of following up in a similar contest.
VALSEUR DU GRANVAL (FR) made it back-to-back wins for Dave Thompson & The Magic 10 at Huntingdon on Monday in the 2m Handicap Chase. He was carrying a 7lb penalty for his win at Ludlow a week earlier but he travelle ..read more

DOCTOR DEX (IRE) got back to winning ways at Nancy a couple of weeks ago in the Prix De La Place D’Alliance Conditions Hurdle, earning just under €11,000 for the Crossed Fingers Partnership. He jumped nicely out in front and kept on well under Raymond O’Brien to see off a late challenge from another English trained rival. He arrived back from France on Wednesday and will now enjoy a summer break.

CHAMPAGNE CITY provided the yard with our first winner of the 2021/22 campaign at Warwick on Monday in the 2m Handicap Hurdle. He backed up his recent return to form with another dominant display, making all and jumping well under a confident Ciaran Gethings. He will now be aimed for a valuable open handicap over C&D on the 19th May, it would be great if he could secure the hat-trick for his owner Roger Brookhouse.

ANOTHER STOWAWAY (IRE) bounced back to form at Ludlow on Wednesday to win the 3m feature handicap chase for his owners Stephen Smith & The Gabbertas Family. He got into a nice rhythm out in front under Ciaran Gethings and kept on well in the closing stages to win comfortably. He’ll remain well handicapped and hopefully pick up another nice race whilst conditions are in his favour. His owners Mark Gabbertas & Stephen Smith have another reason to celebrate this week as they have just finished first and second in our HBA Media 5 to Follow competition. It’s hard to believe that COVID has stood in the way of Aintree for the second year in a row, however Grand National week is an exciting one regardless and we’re really looking forward to DOUBLE SHUFFLE (IRE) tackling the famous fences tomorrow. Whilst the Aintree buzz won’t be at it’s normal level we are delighted to see owners back in attendance and hopefully it won’t be too long before crowds can join them!
