More details of the seat will likely be available at Cathay Pacific’s 2023 Annual Results briefing on the 13th of March. However, we wanted to take a quick look at some of the new features on these seats. Review: Norwegian 737 (LGW-ARN)

As the first of the six airlines I flew from London to Phuket, I flew from London Gatwick to Stockholm on Norwegian. I’m trying to find the best leisure travel option intra-Europe, and have been flying a few economy class products on British Airways and Lufthansa, as well as low-cost carriers such as easyJet, Ryanair, and Wizz Air. Given that Norwegian generally gets a really good rep for some of their onboard-enhancements, despite being a low-cost carrier, I knew I had to try them sooner or later. In order to meet my family for vacation in Thailand, I initially booked an itinerary that involv ..read more

How Will Cathay Pacific Reconfigure its A330s?

A few months ago, Cathay Pacific announced that it would be reconfiguring its Airbus A330-300 fleet with “some urgency”. Currently, the A330 is the backbone of Cathay’s regional flee and operates on a wide variety of sub-5 hour routes across Asia. I wanted to write a post summarising the current state of Cathay Pacific’s Airbus A330 fleet, give some speculation about what the fleet might look like in the future, and reflect more broadly on Cathay Pacific’s regional fleet strategy. Trip Report Introduction: Flying Six Airlines To Thailand
Young Travelers of Hong Kong

While I’m generally interested in publishing useful individual airline product reviews that will help readers make the best travel choices, I couldn’t help but write a trip report series out of my latest trip to Thailand, where I went to meet my family for Lunar New Year’s. I live in London and my family lives in Hong Kong, so I was able to get them on a direct flight on Cathay Pacific, while I flew the airlines I wanted based on price and availability. What ensued was a 6-month process to get the ideal itinerary which would maximise the number of airlines that I could make useful reviews out ..read more

Review: Aer Lingus A320neo AerSpace (LHR-ORK)

Review Overview YTHK'S VERDICT It's fun that Aer Lingus offers this intra-European business class experience on high-yield routes, but they're pretty no-frills, with non-reclining seats, broken power ports, subpar catering, and no WiFi 3.0 In late January 2024 I flew Aer Lingus on the short one-hour hop from London to Cork. Aer Lingus offers a cabin of service called AerSpace on its more high-yield routes, such as from London to Dublin, Cork and Shannon, as well as Dublin to Amsterdam, Munich, Lisbon, and other major European destinations (full list here). This is Aer Lingus’ hyb ..read more

Qantas’ A380 Premium Economy: *Almost* Perfect

This morning, I wrapped up a trip to Thailand with my family. This was a great time to rest, recharge, spend time with family, and fly six different airlines. Okay, maybe the latter point only applies to very specific people, but I am a very specific people. We stayed in Khao Lak, an hour away from Phuket Airport. I’ll write a bit about it during my full trip report (not too much, as my focus was to recharge, and not to review the hotel), though I wanted to write about a flight I took on my return journey. Specifically, I sought out Qantas’ A380 premium economy from Singapore to London. I book ..read more

Review: Hong Kong Airlines A330 Business Class (NRT-HKG)

Review Overview YTHK'S VERDICT This airline needs a couple of re-investments to truly get back "on the map" (such as WiFi, menus and better catering), though they provide a pleasant product with consistently low pricing 3.5 In August 2023 I flew Hong Kong Airlines’ business class from Tokyo Narita to Hong Kong. Hong Kong Airlines has been through a rough patch, with lack of demand due to Hong Kong political instability closely followed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline had been thrown a lifeline by parent company Hainan Airlines, allowing it to stay in business, though unfort ..read more

First Impressions: Batik Air Malaysia Business Class – Definitely Used To Be Better

In 2012, the Lion Air group launched Malindo Air, a Malaysia-based airline which responded to AirAsia’s expansion into Indonesia’s market. Malindo Air came out swinging with a proper business class product, personal televisions, and even inflight WiFi, which was introduced in 2015. Malindo even was the launch customer of the 737 MAX, though that was short lived, as business class passengers complained about the aircraft’s one-class configuration (the aircraft was returned to parent company Lion Air, and joined a fleet of 737 MAXs that included the aircraft that crashed in 2018, killing 189 peo ..read more

Last weekend I flew KLM’s premium economy from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. I’m trying to focus on more premium economy travel, as it’s an increasingly popular market with a knowledge gap in the blogosphere. I’m on a family trip in Thailand, and wanted to make the most out of my journey there to write up valuable reviews of a variety of airlines. I’ll write a full review of this flight, where I’ll more extensively detail each of the below experiences, and you’ll be able to follow along with the flight from start to end – I’ll just summarise them in brief here. However, I wanted to pull out a few ..read more

How Long Do Avios Hotels Points Take To Post?
Young Travelers of Hong Kong

There are a few ways to earn British Airways Avios without flying, including linking your AmEx card to your Executive Club account. While there are a plethora of options that you can find here, today I wanted to talk about Avios Hotels, a booking portal partner with British Airways that rewards 10 Avios per stay fully paid with cash. Specifically, there’s varying information out there about how long points take to post. I’ve been staying at quite a few hotels across the UK for work. (For anyone interested, I’m planning on reviewing the hotels I believe will be the greatest value add, as I’m no ..read more
