Atropine drop question

This question if for anyone that has used the atropine drops for their kids. My son is 13. We tried to get contacts this year ( apparently they can help slow down the progression) but he was not for it and couldn’t get them in his eyes. The Dr explained they have eye drops that can help. My question is, what have your experiences been like with these drops and your kids using them? Do they help? Do they suck? submitted by /u/kwhit9876 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Should you expect to go blind when you get older?

Hello, I'm 18 F. Recently went for my regular ophthalmology checkup and my dioptery went from -3 to -4.5 in the span of 3 years. I just had a chat with a friend whose dioptery is currently -6 (entering strong myopia phase I guess?) and we shared our worries that we could go blind with age. My ophthalmologist told me that myopia usually becomes stable around my age. Yes maybe my sight will get a bit lower, but going blind is really a fear of mine and I hate the thought of losing my sight one day. Is this really something to be expected? What mindset should I have? Is this paranoia? Thank you ..read more

Considering Contacts

I’ve been wearing glasses for almost 6 years now. I have a pretty bad eyesight and a big difference between my eyes (left -7 and right -1.75). I’m considering getting contacts as my doctor said it’s best for me since I have that difference. How’s life with contacts? Is it better for me and my conditions? submitted by /u/Substantial-Head1863 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

My eyesight was already bad, but now it seems to be even blurred after the application of eye drops and a thing that i gonna call "sun" that almost fried my eyes. submitted by /u/vioenor [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Did I make a mistake?

I am originally -6 Had an eye exam and complained of blurry vision mostly at night when I read road signs. My optometrist added extra cylinder -0.25 to one eye and -0.25 sphere to other eye. I had my old glasses and new glasses and saw a negligible difference when reading road signs. I see the moon clearly on the old and new glasses. The difference is a very slight shadow above moon using the old glasses. Blurriness was obvious with the old glasses before but now I suddenly see okay with it. ? I still see shadows in lights during the dark. Did I make a mistake? Was it over corrected? I guess ..read more

High change in prescription?

Back in January I was finally able to go to the eye doc after not seeing one for 3 years due to money/insurance. I feel like this is a pretty big jump compared to my old prescription? I just ordered my new pair of glasses last night so it’ll be a bit before I can physically tell the difference but the prescription change on paper worries me. I’ve also dealt with headaches/migraines on the daily basis but I can’t determine whether or not it’s due to glasses because it’s been an ongoing thing since I was maybe 14/15. I’m 24 now and whenever I have had the chance to see a doctor, they waive it o ..read more
