Im going to play the game one day no matter what, but my backlog is ridiculous. Just curious if it’s living up to the hype
As I type this I remember it’s on gamepass

So, I've seen people recommend both, but have never had the opportunity to play either series. So I ask of you, please sell me on either the Trails series or the Ys series. I'm equally torn on both. Or if you think I'm off base and should pick up something else, sell me on it.
Also, if you are proposing Trail of... Please let me know where I should start - it's a bit overwhelming with choices.

Because we didn't have enough JRPGs released this week between Eiyuden Chronicle, SaGa, Megaton Musashi, and Sand Land, let's go ahead and add these to the pile. If you're in the mood for a dungeon crawler, it might be worth giving these a look.

Hello everyone! I have just completed the development of my textmode JRPG Whispers in the Moss, and the game will be released in June (at Steam, Itch.io and hopefully GOG). I'm a hobbyist solo game developer, and I started coding the game back in March 2012, so it's been quite a journey!
Whispers in the Moss in a nutshell:
a full-scale JRPG with probably at least 20 to 30 hours of gameplay (rough estimation)
inspired mainly by the NES/SNES era SquareSoft titles
some of the most ambitious textmode graphics you've seen
a beautiful handcrafted world
an epic story and a wild cast of characters

Playing through Nier Replicant (and eventually Nier Automata) with my wife right now. She's really not a gamer at all. But the auto battle mode is such a blessing, because we can participate in the gameplay and just soak in the atmosphere, music, story, etc. without having to worry about dying.
It's awesome. And I'd really appreciate some recommendations on other story and atmosphere-rich games that have super easy difficulties / no-fail modes.

I'm a Switch player and I hear things about both of these. Eiyuden looks like it's got that 90's charm to it. Now me being a Square Enix enjoyer I would personally say SaGa and am still enjoying the demo even if I don't understand everything about it. But I just wanna get people's take on both.

Hello all, I would like your help in narrowing down a search for a good first JRPG for me. I primarily enjoy CRPGs, adventure games, visual novels, but I am looking for something new in this genre. I don’t mind reading for the majority of a game if the writing is up to par.
So far Persona 4 and Trails from Zero look up my alley. I am interested in the dialogue, small town feel, getting to know characters that are unique and have depth. I am interested in living worlds. I struggle through bad dialogue and poor VA. I can get into almost any combat style.
Are the two I mentioned good entry point ..read more

I have been playing VC and FE: Engage. I wouldn't mind story as long as it comprises lower % of the total game or relevant to the strategy during games.
I generally prefer chess-like grid based games. Interested in Triangle Strategy and Tactics Ogre, but I have never tried HD-2D graphics. I am a bit scared to try out as it might be confusing. What do you think? Would love to hear the suggestions from you.
Thanks in advance.
