Ryan van Velzen returns to next week’s Limpopo Championship as the defending champion in a tournament that dramatically changed the course of his career. Steven le Roux needed sudden-death to win his first Sunshine Tour-sanctioned tournament as he defeated a spirited Samuel Simpson in the first playoff hole of the Blue Label Development Tour’s one-day event held at Observatory Golf Club on Thursday. The tournament was the sixth and final one in the Blue Label Development Tour series for the season. Le Roux was first in the clubhouse with his flawless 64 and while many players were posting some low scores, Simpson was just as impressive on the day. With both players tied for the top spot, the winner had to be decided via a playoff. “Doing it in ..read more

Nelly Korda is off to her best start of any LPGA season and back atop the world rankings, but she wants to be boring at this week’s Ford Championship. I’ve been using the first part of the year as my real off-season to practise, prepare and train, because I travelled so much last year. This year is going to be really busy because of all the travel, and then you throw in the Olympics, which mean we’ll have two trips back and forth to Europe. My team and I have never done it this way but by the time I got to the US Open in June last year, I was exhausted, and that’s when we really want to start peaking. So we thought we’d take the time at the beginning of the year to rest, prep and get stronger, and then hopefully it will pay off in the middle ..read more
