“I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” John 17:20-21

Message from Bishop Gronberg
Christ is Risen! Christ is Risen Indeed!! Alleluia!!! A blessed Easter morning to you all. I pray this festival day and the weeks of Easter to follow are a joy within our communities across the NT-NL Synod.
On Saturday, March 30th we celebrated the resurrection a little early at Our Redeemer, Grand Prairie as we gave thanks for the life and ministry of the Rev. Melvin Hammer. Mel, along with his spouse Hattie who survives him, served a number of NT-NL congregations over the last decades. He was a faithful leader and mentor. And as I stated in the sermon, he and Hat ..read more

Dear Partners in Mission:
“So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord— the King of Israel!” -John 12
Last Sunday morning I joined my family for Palm Sunday. Like many of you we gathered outside the sanctuary, heard the processional gospel, and processed into the sanctuary singing “All Glory Laud and Honor.” The liturgy ending with the reading of the passion narrative. In our setting 10 individuals lent their voices to the dramatic reading. Alternating to give us differe ..read more

This weekend I visited the members of Midland Lutheran. The last time I was there, they were preparing for the retirement of Pr. Bob Barndt and planning to establish a “nesting” relationship with Grace Presbyterian in Midland.
Now they have progressed to a shared ministry relationship with Grace. Under the guidance of Presbyterian Pastor Diane Baldwin, their new motto is “Together in Grace”. While there I also got to present Parish Lay Minister Gabriel Clagett with his long overdue PLMA collar.
Good things are happening out there in Midland. The two congregations have been blending well, with ..read more

Last week at the ELCA Conference of Bishops meeting we approved a message to the President of the United States and our legislators calling for them to work for a permanent bilateral cease fire in Gaza. This was an action by the entire conference and one that I strongly support. You can read it here https://www.elca.org/News-and-Events/8217
When we make such statements we do so informed not by United States partisan politics but by our ELCA Social statements and commitments to peace in the Holy Land. We also do so in conversation with our partners in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jord ..read more
