The Formula One shutdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic has hit the Ferrari brand in the “harshest manner”, as the lack of F1 activity has heavily hit the company’s sponsorship and commercial revenues that it revealed in its Q1 earnings. In the updated financial guidance issued by Ferrari last week, it was revealed that the team could lose almost €1 Billion in revenue for the 2020 year that was previously anticipated, and given the lack of F1 action has “undoubtedly” contributed the most to this reduction in guidance going forward. The government has denied the McLaren Formula One team a £150m loan request for aid amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Sky News reported that the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy had communicated with the McLaren Formula One team to inform them of their decision to reject a request for a £150m loan that would help the team get through the Covid-19 pandemic. Formula One chairman Chase Carey has acknowledged the possibility that the Formula One world championship may not return for the 2020 season admit the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. Max Verstappen put in a late effort to pip Sebastian Vettel to the top of the order during a busy final practice at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, while Leclerc was faced with a technical problem right at the start of the session, which leaves Ferrari on an uphill challenge to get Leclerc’s car prepared for qualifying.  Verstappen’s fastest time was a 1:33.305, which gave the Dutchman a 0.218s advantage over Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel. Charles Leclerc headed team-mate Sebastian Vettel during the second practice session for the Belgian Grand Prix, after Vettel led the way earlier on in the day during the first practice session, meanwhile the Mercedes drivers played second fiddle and Red Bull had some catching up to do.  Leclerc’s pace-setting lap-time was a 1.44.123s, which gave the Monegasque driver a 0.630s buffer over his team-mate. Max Verstappen beat Sebastian Vettel and Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat to victory at the German Grand Prix, as Mercedes failed to score with Bottas crashing out and Hamilton finishing only eleventh.  Verstappen’s winning margin over Vettel was 7.3 seconds, with Kvyat claiming an incredible third place in the Toro Rosso.
