When I started this blog 8 years ago I had no idea what it would give me. The reflective writing made me pause and consider who I really am and what I stand for.  I think it definitely forced me to take a good look at myself and my actions. I made many many friends through this blog.  It’s unreal to think of a blog as a way to make friends in real life – it’s such a solitary activity.  But many of the people who contributed or wrote in turned into good friends and for that I am grateful. It helped launch my business.  There is NO WAY that I would have had the success ..read more

We recently went travelling with kids to Stowe Vermont and I thought I’d post about it – basically because posting about our adventures is my favourite thing ever.  First off, I took a lot of my recommendations from this post on Midnight Mom so please do check out her write up.  I’ve been to Stowe, Vermont approximately once for two nights and she has been going for ages. What to Do My kids are pretty low key.  My youngest is still too young for major walks, but too old to be carried around in a backpack.  We chose activities that were simple, active and fun. The River My ..read more

Craft: Rainbow Toast

If you’re looking for a fun, simple craft I suggest this Rainbow Toast which came from an issue of Chirp Magazine (which I highly recommend subscribing to). It’s super easy – all you do is add some food colouring to milk (or you can use juice or whatever as long as it colours the milk) and paint it on the toast.  I used paintbrushes I bought at Ikea to make sure there was no actual paint on them. Paint the bread and then toast the bread so it’s not soggy anymore.  The colours brighten as well after they have been toasted. Eat and enjoy ..read more

Palm Springs with Kids Did you miss Part 1?  Palm Springs with Kids is great and here is a round up of what we did. Architecture Sightseeing This was by far one of my favourite parts of the trip.  We just drove around, but I think getting around by bike would be pretty cool too and very doable.  I am by no means an expert but these seemed to be the best houses to view: 1100 Sierra Way – The home above with the pink door which has earned itself the hashtag #thatpinkdoor and has been tagged over 2,500 times.  It’s pretty cool and I loved it.  The door handle is very bli ..read more

Palm Springs with Kids Palm Springs with Kids is pretty fun and I can’t wait to let you in on our adventures! Just so everyone is on the same page, I was in Palm Springs, California once for one week so I am by no means an expert.  I’m writing this because I didn’t find a ton of resources out their for our trip and I think it’s worthwhile to share.  I was there early March and the weather was on average 20C – 30C each day. At the time of our trip my boys were 3 and 5 so we general kept it simple with an outing in the morning and pool in the afternoon. Our condo was located in ..read more

I’ve been thinking a lot about failure and disappointment lately and how there’s a pervading feeling to try and keep it positive all the time.  I know what you’re thinking – Michelle!  Stop being so much fun on this blog!  But seriously.  Failure and disappointment and sadness does exists but you wouldn’t know it by the steady stream of positivity everywhere. I watched this TED talk and a lot of it really resonated with me.  I hope it does for you too ..read more

I’m so pleased to have Andréanne Laurin from Epicerie LOCO on the blog to day to tell us about opening up a zero waste grocery store.  As with anything, it’s never as straightforward as you would imagine but despite bumps and bruises it’s almost always worth it in the end when you feel that sense of accomplishment.  Find out how she did it along with three other amazing women. Tell us a little bit about yourself personally and professionally. My name is Andréanne Laurin, and I’m 28 years old. After my bachelor’s degree in Communications and Marketing I decided to do a Master in Envi ..read more
