What would you use to glue this transducer to bottom?

There’s no other good solution but I am slightly nervous about how permanent it will likely be should the transducer fail. Anything out there that could be removable down the road but still solid under waterline? submitted by /u/Johndeauxman [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

The Gulf was like a pond today, hit some reefs a few miles out with the fly rod and did pretty good.

Drying out your kayak to pass a quagga mussell inspection

Hey everyone! Looking for everyone's ideas on how to best dry out a plastic kayak with limited hatches on a regular basis so that it can pass quagga muscle inspection. Its a. Hobie, with the one 8-in or so Access point. Obviously I will put it up with the drain hole at the very bottom in the Sun for a bit. Any other thoughts? submitted by /u/rusticandy [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I took the time measuring and making my own spacers if anyone also wants them. I need them for my Big Water 132. Maybe others can use them as well. They’re 2 inches. submitted by /u/jescereal [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Draining a Hobie Lynx after a hull crack

I have a Hobie Lynx which I use frequently to fish. I'm retired so I take it out twice a week or so to fish here in Florida. I recently found a crack in the bottom in one of the scupper wells. No idea how it got there. Very frustrating. This thing is fragile. I love the lightness of it, but you have to be very careful. Since it had a crack, it definitely took in some water. I have since sealed the crack with some JB weld putty but I don't know how to get the water that is in there out. There are no drain holes and I don't think you can remove any of the black inserts for draining. Does anyone ..read more

Old Town Side Imaging Transducer Mounting

I bought a Helix 7 side imaging fish finder and mounted the transducer in the universal transducer mount cutout underneath my Old Town PDL 106. It looked like the transducer was sitting a good 1/2" below the bottom of the kayak, but I figured I guess that's just how it goes. As I was launching the kayak for the first time the transducer snagged on a root and broke off. Is the underneath transducer mount suitable for launching from rough terrain and sliding the kayak across the ground, and I just botched the install, or should I get an over the side transducer mount instead? submitted by /u/r ..read more

Canoes might be better just saying

Have fished out of countless kayaks but recently picked up this old town used 14’ for $200 and run it with a 55lb trolling motor also got used for $100. I’ve had a hobie, older Jackson and I have a nucanoe flint. But I think for 95% of freshwater I’m picking this, more space and capacity and weighs the same and this is a heavy canoe. Running an anchor wizard off the stern and Scotty of the bow and wind is no issue. For saltwater or big waves and heavy currents I still would definitely pick the hobie or other pedal kayak but motors definitely nice in calm waters. And can easily run all the ..read more
