It’s May!

Time flies! It’s already May! Things are going as well as they could be the last few months. We are very thankful. Baby GIRL is doing well. I’m 25 weeks pregnant this week and baby is moving around quite a bit. Frequently keeping me up at night–but I love being reminded that she is alive and active. God is so good! I’m physically doing pretty well also. Staying as active as I possibly can, keeping my lungs clear, eating well, and managing diabetes. Prayers are appreciated for things to continue to go well as the pregnancy progresses. I realize the most challenging part is still ahead of me. J ..read more

Our Unexpected Gift
The Race Marked Out For Me | Running with Purpose

We received some VERY unexpected news the week before Christmas. We found out that I’m pregnant! Never thought we would get a Christmas gift like that Jim and I have been married for 17 years. Early on in our marriage we had hopes and dreams of starting a family. It didn’t happen for us and as time went on and as my health gradually declined, we figured it was not in God’s plan for us to have our own biological child. Even as the years went on, it was still very difficult for me to accept. I didn’t really talk about it much with people but it’s something I struggled with quite a bit. Over the ..read more

I turned 40 this week! THANKFUL is how I feel about that. Birthday Celebration As a kid, I didn’t talk about it a lot, but having cystic fibrosis really bothered me. I was scared I wouldn’t live to be an adult. Now, looking back and remembering how faithful God has always been makes me cry. He has been so good to us. I am so humbled and happy to be 40 years old! I’m so excited for the future. Only God knows how many days each of us has on this side of eternity and He has a purpose and plan for each one of them. I’m determined to keep pressing on each and every day. Praise God ..read more

I’m so thankful for the reminder of verses like this one. I have this hanging in front of my treadmill. As I got on my treadmill this morning, I thought about this verse. It reminded me that I can always serve the Lord. No matter what life looks like, I can still serve the Lord. I will always be able to do that and THIS gives me joy and motivates me to do my best everyday for Him ..read more

Successful Life
The Race Marked Out For Me | Running with Purpose

Success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. I mentioned in the last post that my CF clinic asked the question, “How do you live a successful life right now, in light of all that is going on?” Each of us probably has a very different vision of what success looks like. As a Christian, my view of success is growing in my relationship with God. Knowing Him better each day. And my purpose is to shine the light of Jesus Christ to people around me. I don’t have everything figured out and I make mistakes but I believe this is still my purpose during coronavirus and until the end of my time he ..read more

What Does Success Look Like?

My CF clinic has been doing regular webcasts through Zoom during COVID. It’s been very helpful to hear from experts who are working on the front lines with this virus. We’ve tuned in regularly and we find it very beneficial. It runs about an hour. We start off by hearing from the director of the adult CF program, then a guest speaker (usually a specialist of some sort. one week we heard from the hospital’s epidemiologist) and the hour usually ends with someone on the CF team leading us in relaxing breathing exercises. Sometimes it’s more interactive and we have discussions about relevant heal ..read more

God is always good. And he gives us what we need. Today, I’m choosing to focus on things to be thankful for. I’m very thankful for this medical bill. Why you ask? Because this amount is all that is left from a bill that was originally almost $2000. I knew something wasn’t right when that came in the mail. After a few 3 way phone calls between me/my insurance company/ and the infusion pharmacy, they have figured that I really only owe $75.85! It was such a relief to get this corrected bill in the mail. I’m so thankful! If you get a huge medical bill in the mail, don’t ever assume that is the a ..read more

It’s Monday

Maybe you’re like me and have a case of the Mondays It’s tough for me to get back into a rhythm after a weekend. Even though I still have to do my CF routine on the weekend, I get used to being a little more free with our time. Sometimes it feels like Monday is the beginning of a long (sometimes really rocky) climb. I’m thankful for the strength and ability God’s given me to do the things I’ve been able to do lately and today I’m going to put one foot in front of the other, praying as I go along, and I’ll spend my energy on the things God has for me and us this week. This will be a busy one f ..read more

On June 4th, I had a bunch of pre lung transplant routine testing. Everything was done locally in Boston at Brigham and Children’s Hospital and I also had a regular cystic fibrosis clinic appointment during the same trip. My CF clinic then sent all the test results to my transplant pulmonologist at Cleveland Clinic. On June 12th, I had a virtual appointment with my transplant pulmonologist to go over all the tests and see where I’m at in terms of lung transplant. All of my tests results were about the same and my PFT’s (pulmonary function tests) showed slight improvement since a few months ..read more

We’ve got so much to be thankful for These are some things that come to mind this week: This beautiful weather! This week has been absolutely amazing. Love. Love. Love the warmer/sunny days My wonderful friend Sarah celebrated her 40th birthday this week! She’s one of the reasons I had such an amazing college experience. She’s beautiful inside and out, hilarious, and one of the smartest people I know. I’m so thankful to have her in my life. Brian’s b-ball game We were able to celebrate my little cousin Brian’s 6th birthday outside at Queen Lake over the weekend. Time flies! I’m thankful for ..read more
