2022 What Lies Ahead? Our first blog of 2022 and our first in quite a while. Like 2020, 2021 was a year of enjoying home comforts, with a trip to Poland being our only foreign getaway of the year. Yes, we were still lucky to getaway. We do count ourselves fortunate, but further travel plans were disturbed by the ongoing pandemic. January for us has always been a time to plan future travels and a time when we usually avail of an off-season getaway. The last couple of years have been different, however. This year we hope things will change but we won’t hold our breath. So goodbye 2021 and hello ..read more

Our first blog of 2021 and our first in a quite a while. As most of us around the globe are aware, unless you have been lucky enough to be hidden under a rock! We are in the midst of a global pandemic. Coronavirus, COVID 19, pain in the a$s, whatever you want to call it. It has changed how we live forever. As a cystic fibrosis patient and keen traveller this pandemic should really have caused chaos in my life. On the contrary, I have been quite fortunate to live a normal enough life with work, rest and play. As time now goes on and we are close to a calendar year of restrictions, it is time t ..read more

Stop the World I Want to Get Off I’m holding no punches here and getting straight to the point. The world has officially gone mad! As this is a time of coronavirus, extraordinary times, pandemic, emergency, and heaven knows how many other names I’ve been sick of hearing in the last few months. This has been a time of firsts for many and a time for changes. Some good, but frankly many, in my belief, absolutely crazy. The phrase “Stop the World I Want to Get Off” has been thrown about by millennials and up there with drop the ball and first world problems. All very annoying phrases but strangel ..read more

Cystic Fibrosis and the Coronavirus Anybody who has read my first two blogs of this year may notice that I wrote about destinations I wish to visit in 2020. Our trip to Rome and the Vatican City back in January the first of a few this year, we had hoped! Who would have known two months on how things could change so dramatically around the globe in such a short time? Two big elements in my life, travel and cystic fibrosis both hugely influenced by a virus we have known about for a few months. It is only now in Europe that we are beginning to feel its full effects. Cystic Fibrosis and the Coron ..read more

Rome and Vatican City Our first trip of 2020 and a destination I have visited before and yet never visited before! Rome the capital city of Italy and the independent city state which lies within, the Vatican City. A quick January get away seemed the perfect time to visit this historical city in beautiful Italy. The stay would be short, only two nights, but we were determined to enjoy every second. Soaking up as much as we could of this historic place. Our break would be short but not everything ran so sweet as you will find out! This is our time in Rome and Vatican City. Rome and Vatican City ..read more

Destination 2020 Here we are again that time of year, January. The start of the Gregorian calendar year. Deep in the middle of a northern hemisphere winter and southern hemisphere summer. A time when many of us reflect and make new year’s resolutions. We are not ones for making them but the one thing we do get excited about is travel anytime of year. January maybe many people’s least favourite month but for us it’s a perfect opportunity to make travel plans for the year ahead, or at least dream about them in Destination 2020! Destination 2019 touched on five fascinating destinations which one ..read more

Work Rest Play The Cystic Fibrosis Way For those eagle-eyed visitors to our cystic fibrosis and travel website, www.continentchasers.com, you may have noticed that it has been quite some time since I have frequently written blog posts. Our trip to the lovely Republic of San Marino back in February and a short break in Andorra in September the last occasions where I tapped vigorously on my keyboard. So why the delay? Quite simply life got in the way, doesn’t it always! Thankfully my health has been ok so I can’t use that as an excuse! Also, there has not been many trips away this year so far ..read more

Amazing Andorra Back to Nature Country number 88, or officially ‘principality’. Whatever it wishes to be titled, it’s still a new destination and one we were finally happy to reach after many years of discussion. This really has been the year of visiting microstates having visited San Marino earlier in the year! So why this year and why Andorra? Seeing as though we are residing in one of its neighbours, Spain, why not? It may take an eight-hour drive to get there, but we felt it would be worth it. So would our three-day trip be worth the fuel and fatigue? We think the title migh ..read more

The Best Ways to Fight Jet Lag   The best part about travelling to far-off lands is experiencing new cultures, cuisines, sites, and adventures. Travelling abroad, especially to a different timezone is not all good though as you’ll have to fend off that dreaded jet lag. There are many things we can tell you about travelling abroad. One of those is that you won’t get to enjoy your trip if you are suffering from jet lag. Desynchronosis, better known as jet lag, is a condition that occurs when a person moves from one time zone to another rapidly. It affects the body clock, thus preventing you fro ..read more
