I applied for an out of country visa on 8th Jan and Bio was on 17th Jan. Still waiting on a decision and we are on week 10 after being told that it can take upto 12 weeks. Im getting quite anxious because Im seeing applications getting processed and approved literally left, right and centre with some people having done theirs after my date and still getting theirs early. (It was a standard application not priority). If anyone could me some reassurance if it took this long it would be much appreciated. submitted by /u/No-Cost-6242 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Recommendation about Moving from Tokyo to London (SWV)

Throw away account. I have been offered a job in academia in London with a salary of 48K. The role is permanent, but they are offering a 3-year SWV with the possibility of further renewal. Currently, I hold the same position at a National University in Tokyo. I understand that living in London can be expensive, and apart from the language barrier in Japan, I have no issues with my current job. However, the promotion system in Japan is slow and I am concerned that as a gaijin (foreigner), it may be challenging to reach the highest level in academia. I am contemplating whether shifting from Tok ..read more

I just registered the online service that is said to be the new e-visa to replace physical BRP cards. The registration process was smooth when I linked my UKVI account to my BRP, nothing wrong, until it just showed up a wrong visa type. My name, DOB, expiry date, all the details are correct except visa type. For information, I am on Global Talent dependant partner visa while the website shows BNO dependant. While it is also dependant, it is depending on a spouse with a different visa. I then called the UKVI helpline - the operator answered that it's not technical as it matches what they hold ..read more

Hello everyone, I’m on a student visa and my visa is about to expire. I was wondering if I apply for fee waiver (weather accepted or not) will it affect my visa decision in the future when I go back to my country and apply for visa again? Also is there any negative sides of applying fee waiver? Thank you submitted by /u/SealMairaDimu [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi all, i just received my SWV last week, on the 21st march. My COS start date was 3rd March. Now the question I have is about starting employment date within 28 days... of whichever is the latest of above. So according to COS start date, 28 days would require starting before 31st March, but since my notification date was 21st March, so with that the 28 day rule should be around 18th April. Just wanted to know if this is correct? And one more thing, regarding reporting this is on the SMS portal. Does my employer need to report my start date on it? And the rule below (S3.16), does it apply in ..read more

Skilled Worker Visa meeting all requirements

If someone meets all the requirements of the Skilled Worker Visa (min salary, occupation on the list, etc.), can they still get rejected a visa? Or is it sure that they can get it? If it is sure, why would companies have a policy of not accepting applicants without the right to work in the UK? If the company is on the government's list, then it should be easy to obtain a visa, no? I am talking about roles that clearly pay above the minimum for the visa and for jobs that are in the UK government list. If they can be rejected, how does that work - on what basis are some rejected and some not? T ..read more

Hi all, I'm currently considering consulting a solicitor just for advice - I am trying to get a visa for my elderly grandmother and worried it might not be accepted. The solicitors I am considering are: - Premium solicitors London - https://www.premiumsolicitors.co.uk/ - Good advice solicitors - https://goodadviceuk.com/ - Duncan Lewis solicitors - https://www.duncanlewis.co.uk/ does anyone have experience with any of these? or have any to recommend? affordability is also a consideration but since i'll only be paying for a consultation i don't mind too much. :) submitted by /u/curioussreddit ..read more
