 Partly due to the Pandemic and having a lot to do on our property and lake on the levels I have not done much Woodworking for quite some time.I thought it was time to start a good sized Project and as it is our Son Marks Birthday shortly and they have just moved house I thought it would be nice to make them a Resin River Coffee table.Mark and Betina have been collecting shells and bits of sea glass for quite a few years so I thought it would be nice to make a Resin River Table using some of it in the Resin top.On the Blog post I will be putting up pictures and telling you how I have done ..read more

 A couple of Weeks ago Susan and I spent a Week touring North Wales and while we were there we called in to see les Symonds  in Bala. Before I left Les gave me a lovely Sycamore Burr and an end grain Cankered Ash log. I turned the Burr into a beautiful Bowl 10" x 5" and the ash log into a nice Pot 6" x 5"  ..read more

Unusual commission

Had an unusual commission to do today mount two Elephant tusks on a Base.Whatever your view on elephant tusks it does not apply to these as they are very old.They are quite beautifully carved and approx two feet tall. The Base is scorched and ebonised Ash.The Tusks are reassessed into the base about an inch this was done with a router ..read more

It is very rare to get any local elm of a decent size but I have been lucky a Mate has given me two large trees.I only make Bowls so only interested in the trunk. A while ago I decided to restore the Bench seat that was in the front of our Bungalow but ended up making a completely new one.We thought it was too nice to put out the front so it now lives in our back garden.This leaves us without one in the front so I am going to make another one and cut up the wood today Hopefully this time it should be easier as I learned a lot from the first one.This one will be slightly different but not much ..read more
