Last week I shared part 1 of the Tunisian Cable series, the cable hat. This week I am sharing the pattern for the Tunisian Cable gloves. This second piece, is actually the first time I have attempted to design gloves for an adult, and being as how I made them chunky I decided they would work best as either a fingerless glove or mitten. After a little playing around, I decided the fingerless glove was the option I wanted, although I may well look at some adult mittens some point in the future. The second cable piece in the collection features just one long cable across the length of the glove ..read more

Tunisian Crochet Mermaid Mittens

The final week of the mermaid winter wear collection is here, and I am finishing it off with the Tunisian crochet Mermaid Mittens. The mittens themselves don’t actually have a mermaid tail like the matching scarf and hat, since I couldn’t get one attached to them without making the mittens impractical or looking ridiculous! However, they are worked in the same stitch as their matching items and in the same yarn which definitely echoes the mermaid theme for the the set. Like the hat and scarf, the mittens come in two sizes, toddler (approximately age 1-3) which are 12cm around an ..read more

This week I am excited to share the pattern for the Tunisian Mermaid Tail Scarf, the second piece in the Mermaid collection. Like the mermaid hat, it is also made in Caron Simply Soft Paints in Oceana and follows the same stitch patterns to create a piece that matches the Mermaid Tail Hat perfectly. Unlike the hat, the scarf is worked completely flat. Like the hat however, the pattern for this Mermaid Tail Scarf comes in two sizes, toddler, for approximately age 1-3 and child for around ages 4-7. Changing hook size is all you need to do to alter the finished product for the different si ..read more

This week I am excited to share the pattern for the Tunisian Mermaid Tail Hat. I know I am a little late on the mermaid craze, but this summer Lily fell in love with mermaids. We saw a mermaid at an aquarium and she just fell in love and since then mermaids have been everywhere, and as part of that she wanted a mermaid winter set this year. I knew I wanted to make her mermaid set in Tunisian crochet, but it actually took me a while of playing around with various stitches before I found a combination I really liked. I’m not sure if what I created is a stitch that has a name, I have fou ..read more

Tunisian Christmas Tree Cup Cozy

My last Christmas pattern for this year is the Tunisian Christmas Tree Cup cozy. By now you must know that I love making these little cozies and I had to make a specifically Christmas one. I loved the idea of a candy cane theme and Christmas Tree and so I decided to combine these ideas in to one cozy. The background of this cozy is made to reflect the traditional candy cane. I used the Tunisian reverse stitch and striped it in which and red. I initially made this in the round, however, without having a ton of ends, switching colours looks clumsy and didn’t really work at the join ..read more

This week I am excited to share with you my Tunisian 10 point star blanket. Way back in the summer when I launched my Tunisian Chevron Skirt pattern, one of my friends and testers suggested it would look lovely as a blanket and she was right. I took her advice and spent some time working out how to turn it from a skirt to a blanket. It took a bit of figuring out how to work Tunisian crochet in the round from a small start. I have been working it in the round to create a piece with a hole in it for a skirt, or cup cozy etc, but not to work something flat like this blanket. It took qu ..read more

I had originally intended to release this pattern last week, however, due to Oliver turning 6 and both kids being off for the half term holidays, and all the activities we had planned I didn’t really get around to even going near the computer to do this! In the end, having the week (nearly a week and a half) off was worth it. The kids had tonnes of fun, and since I don’t see them so much now they are both at school full time, I enjoyed the time with them too. So a week late, but better late than never, I am finally releasing the Tunisian Snowflake Cup Cozy pattern. I knew from the mom ..read more

This week, I have decided to share my tutorial for making a crochet cable. I actually love making these cables so much that I have been modifying and creating new designs around these cables, which I hope I will be able to release a bit later this year, or early next year. The photo tutorial for this week shows you how to make a basic cable that is 6 stitches wide, and turns towards the left. There are other ways of moving the cable and ways to work with more strands, they will be coming up soon, but for now, this should be helpful to anyone wanting to start working a Tunisian cable ..read more

Of all the crochet items I make, bags are probably one of my favourite. I absolutely love bags, but since I was put on a ban from buying anymore, I started making them and actually this maybe even more fun, since I get to make the bags exactly how I want them to be. This bag features some of my most favourite things in a bag; its purple – my favourite colour and making it myself means I don’t have to wait for purple to be in season It has cables – I love cables, I always wanted to learn to knit them, but never got around to it. So finding crochet cables and then Tunisian ones is ve ..read more

Last week I shared part 3 of the Tunisian Cable series, the cable scarf. This week I am sharing the final winter wear pattern, the Tunisian Cable headband. The cable headband features a single cable, placed centrally, and running across the length of the headband. The finished headband measures 55cm long and 10cm wide, plenty wide enough to keep your ears warm this winter. The pattern also comes with notes to adjust the length of the headband if you have a slightly different sized head, although the headband itself does have some stretch. The pattern will only take an hour or so to ..read more
