For the first 2 years of Zander’s life, I thought this day would never happen. Zander has been the best thing we’ve ever done and raising him has become the craziest and most exciting thing for us. With that in mind, before we had him I couldn’t have imagined loving anyone or anything this much. I didn’t know how much you could love a person and I only hope my heart can continue to grow and have room for another!! I was finally hitting the stride of being back on my bike and feeling like myself again after weaning Zander. I won’t ramble too much about why we chose to have a second kid, but I ..read more

It all started with Maria. She came into the shop and ended up falling in love with mountain biking and the idea of something bigger… by bike. Maria has an amazing excitement about her and she wanted to do some fun stuff with her new friends and bike from the mountains. I needed to put together a way for women to learn about bikepacking and for other women to share what they know. We have a lot of local badasses who are more than happy to teach and share. I also needed a little getaway adventure myself. Maria and I set a date and I rallied a small group of local gals. This would be a trial-run ..read more

Mommy and Zander are Going Up the Mountain

Mommy and Zander are going up the mountain! This past Friday I had one of the funnest rides I’ve had in a while. I woke up early to sneak out the door before Zander was awake and get in a ride. Before I finished coffee, the little guy came stumbling out of his room. Since it was Friday, I knew that Brendan had a lot of prep to do for the shop. Thursday was busy and Friday would surely be, as well. My first thought; no ride for me. On second thought, I’ll just take him with me! I asked Zander if he wanted to go climb a mountain this morning. He said he wanted to go ride HIS bike with me and ..read more

OK, I’m not suggesting this as a training method, but this is how it went down! It’s been a hectic few months, leaving one job, working 12 hour days at the next and now back to being full-time at home with Zander while trying to build up my web design company and work on Hub and Siren stuff and move our house twice! Brendan’s been nagging me to get on the bike and I’ve had a few good rides in the past 4 months, but have been averaging a day a week. Not good training! We’ve been planning on doing the Never Forget 100miler in San Diego for quite some time with hopes of getting a sitter. That was ..read more

“Life happens for me!” We don’t have enough control in this world that we MAKE life happen and I prefer to not be a bystander who life happens TO. Life happens FOR me! This was an insightful piece I picked up at Steph’s Women’s Strength Summit. The past few years have been tough, yet somehow I’m still #WinningAtLife After having Garner (now three), my plate was very full! I was co-running the bike shop and raising the boys. As if things weren’t busy enough, I then got back into my own career doing marketing for bike shops. Bike riding was somehow knocked way down the list of priorit ..read more

The Legends of Kernville and their Inspiring Toddlers

When I moved to California, I visited Kernville – once. My interest was piqued to know more about this sweet town: a very accessible Sierra Nevada getaway with a real river and epic riding. I never made it back there until now and I was pleasantly reminded of it’s epicness and radness by the locals that I was privileged to ride with. I met the local trail builder Jeff who is an amazing dude – a REAL legit rider with great trail ethics and a kind heart. I hear he has some moto skills too. He showed us around on the Corral trails, a new little network ..read more

Living in the beautiful mountains of SoCal means that I get snow during winter. Balancing being a single parent with a full-time job means I take every little ride opportunity I get and am DAMN happy about it!! Craig recently got me into a new training tool: Sufferfest. While the commentary is a little funny at times, it has given me a great routine during the winter. We got through the Tour de Sufferlandria together in February and it was the kickstart to 2017 that I needed. Just before the tour started Craig’s roommate asked me, “I hear you’re gonna ride some of ..read more

I’ll take 3rd against these awesome ladies! The work/life/ride balance is wriggling its way into some kind of equilibrium. This past year has been transformative and I feel like I’m finally coming out the other side as I get back on my bike a bit more. My goal this year is to do some races, get in shape –  Enduro is the name of my game. For those that don’t know about it, let me explain Enduro. It’s not what we call enduro in the endurance world; this enduro comes from the moto world. The courses aren’t as technical as downhill but are usually a bit more technical than cross country. The Enduro Season Yet to Come

New challenges make me feel alive! I haven’t had this much mountain bike stoke since having kids – but it’s back! As the 2016 Enduro season comes to a close, I’m just getting started. My goal for this year was to get out and ride now that the boys are becoming a little more independent and I’ve got great friends to help with them, that’s been happening. This past weekend was my first mountain bike race in years and I’m happy to say that I stayed upright and haven’t totally forgotten how to go fast, which landed me a 4th place finish with the expert ladies! I raced the Vail Lake SoCal ..read more
