One of the activities I’ve most been looking forward to with Oscar is afternoon tea. At just turned three he is happy to sit in restaurants for longer periods of time (albeit with the help of a drawing board or sticker book) and going out with him and his cousins is really fun! The Jurassic Afternoon Tea at the Ampersand Hotel is the perfect afternoon tea for both adults and children like – especially for fans of the movie! Having visited the Ampersand before for the Science Tea, I already knew we were in for a treat! The Jurassic Tea is served at Apero, located on the below ground floor of t ..read more

I was invited to experience the Platinum Jubilee Afternoon Tea Approximately 3 years BC (before Covid) I enjoyed the Christmas Nutcracker Afternoon Tea with my dear friend Binny in the Park Room at JW Marriott Grosvenor House London. Fast forward to now (well last week), Binny invited me to join her on a table she was hosting to experience the hotel’s current offering, the Platinum Jubilee Afternoon Tea! After such a great experience the first time, I was excited to try the tea this time round and to experience the new concept. We started with a glass of Lanson Champagne with options of rose ..read more

Apologies for the lateness of this, posting about Christmas is quite random as we near the end of January but I still wanted to tell you about the amazing Christmas lunch that we had at Duck & Waffle. We’ve been having Christmas lunch at restaurants for years now, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea and Mr S was against the idea at first but it really does make everything so much easier with no cooking or cleaning up. Christmas was uncertain again this year and we left it quite late to book something but I got an email from Duck & Waffle about their Christmas lunch and I thought I’d try my ..read more

Dinner at The Dorchester Rooftop

I had thought I wouldn’t like this mandatory outdoor dining lark… but actually I become quite a fan of dining on terraces and rooftops. Al fresco dining in cold and often rainy London actually felt like a bit of a holiday abroad even if sometimes I was huddling under a blanket or covered terrace with heat lamps. I think anything would seem like a holiday after six months quarantining at home! When Laura and I decided to meet for an outdoor dinner she suggested The Dorchester Rooftop but then followed that up with ‘But is that too much on a Thursday night…’ no. Nothing is too much. I hadn’t bee ..read more

That moment when you open a menu. The first drink that’s poured for you at the table. Fresh baked bread made in the kitchen that day. Not having to do the washing up afterwards… The many things that we’ve missed about going to restaurants. I could go on and on especially as one of the things I’ve missed the most is writing this blog. But lovely readers, I hadn’t been to a restaurant since November. Around six long months of home cooking, ready meals and take aways. After London exited the second lockdown, only to be put into Tier 4 ten days later and then lockdown again after that… it has mean ..read more

I was invited to review Bondi Green and our food and drink was complimentary. I was not paid to visit and was not under contractual obligation to write this blog post or create content on any platform. Bondi Green will be closing due to government regulations but are looking forward to being back with a bang when lockdown is over! Daisy Green Collection is a restaurant group I’ve loved for some time… I’ve worked with them for years but I’ve also visited their restaurants many times independently – specifically Timmy Green, right by where I live. The thing about the Daisy Green Collection, a gr ..read more

I was invited to review Aqua Shard and our food and drink was complimentary. I was not paid to visit and was not under contractual obligation to write this blog post or create content on any platform. ‘All children, except one, grow up…’ Peter Pan has to be one of my favourite childhood stories… who doesn’t want to believe that fairies exist, children don’t have to grow up and you can fly if you think wonderful thoughts? I can’t wait to read to Oscar about this mischievous little boy, his adventures in Neverland and his taunting of his adversary, Captain Hook. Fortunately Oscar has already had ..read more

I was invited to review Randall & Aubin and our food and drink was complimentary. I was not paid to visit and was not under contractual obligation to write this blog post or create content on any platform.  I love visiting old favourites and also giving Mr S and little O the opportunity to check out places that I’ve loved for years. Randall and Aubin has been a stalwart in Soho for twenty four years, somewhere I’ve visited many times and a place that I was excited for the boys to try! The restaurant has a cute vintage feel to it with light bulbs surrounding the sign, 18th century cha ..read more

I was invited to review Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and our food and drink was complimentary. I was not paid to visit and was not under contractual obligation to write this blog post or create content on any platform.  Last weekend I had the pleasure of being invited to experienced the newly launched Garden Terrace at Dinner by Heston Blumenthal located at the Mandarin Oriental in Hyde Park. I’ve had the pleasure of visiting the two-Michelin starred restaurant a few times, for the most important special occasions but the added al fresco element on a sunny day makes the location even more ..read more
