Template for you I hope you had a great Easter and Q1. It’s hard to believe we’re into the second quarter of the year, and in Australia, we’ve said goodbye to summer and had a change of season to Autumn. It’s my favourite time of the year (plus it’s my birthday month!) Life continues to treat us well on the Sunny Coast. Although I must admit having a newborn who is nearly 7 weeks old, the time is flying by and my newsletter schedule feels a bit out of whack right now. I’m a bit slow getting this to you, with Easter and all, but it’s the start of the month and my team has prepared the A ..read more

No surprises

I ran a poll and there were no surprises about what type of content is your favourite to create. Of the 4 types in the Content Matrix, “TEACH” is our fave! I get it. It’s where we feel most safe and comfortable! I am the same and gravitate to this TEACH quadrant too. Just remember, if we only publish “teach” content, people might think we know what we’re talking about but we are leaving a lot on the table… we don’t give them a chance to get to know us we deprive them of a chance to like us! and we inadvertantly position ourselves in the “free education” categor ..read more

What I shipped in 2023 – Year in review
Bluewire Media Blog

Each year I write a post reflecting on the major milestones, things I’m proud of and things that could’ve gone better. Following the lead of Noah Kagan and Seth Godin I take an annual look at what ‘I have shipped’. I do this activity as a reference for myself, and if other people find it interesting or useful, even better. In 2023, I’ve decided to look at what has had the most impact in terms of my family, business and life in general. Family: It was a year of lows and highs.   In March, we lost a baby girl at 20 weeks of the pregnancy. My wife, Lou, still had to give birth to her a ..read more

Recap – Marketing Plan 2024
Bluewire Media Blog

When you’re creating your marketing plan for 2024 here are a few things to keep in mind. #1. Reflect on 2023. What went well (and I’ll keep doing)? What didn’t go well (and should I stop doing)? #2. Decide who does what. What will I do myself? I recommend sticking to your genius zone and do the things that are most rewarding, energising and high-value. What can I accelerate with AI? Think about where ChatGPT can help with things like generating ideas, analysing data, and writing first drafts or frameworks. What can I delegate to a VA? Wherever you have a repetitive or low-value (but im ..read more

Noosa, shark & marketing scorecard

For those following along, I managed to complete the Noosa 1000 swim and the run leg of the Noosa Tri relay on the weekend. Both were bucket list items and I was actually quite happy with my times, given the circumstances. The conditions in the ocean were terrible. The water was very choppy which meant I had to bring my head up every stroke which is exhausting, or risk taking in a stomach-full of salt water. Not only that — just 20 minutes before the start of the race, Noosa beach was closed because of a shark! We still raced, but even when I did get into a swimming rhythm I had the Jaws musi ..read more

Win Hearts & Minds: 4 types of content you need to publish

“One of the concepts I covered in this week’s AI Content Blueprint workshop was the 4 types of content to win the hearts and minds of your clients. It’s important to have the right mix of Share, Show, Teach and Offer content. ‘Share’ content gives people an insight into you as a person, ie. the real you. It might be your personal story, a glimpse behind the scenes or your philosophy, beliefs or values. It is designed to build a strong personal connection with you. Most business owners neglect this type of content because ‘who wants to know about me?’, but the reality is clients buy from peopl ..read more

Updated on October 12th, 2023 “What’s been working well for me this year?” This week, I had the chance to deliver a 5-minute talk at a Peer Mastermind on the Gold Coast. The topic: “What’s been working well for me this year?”.   The Peer Mastermind crew Here’s the 5 things I shared. A Shift in Identity A small change in my identity has had a significant impact in the last year.I shifted my long-held mindset of “getting fit” simply to “being fit”. That subtle change has had a significant impact when it comes to maintaining a regular habit of training, resting and eating well ..read more

Chat GPT for marketing Debrief

Chat GPT for marketing Debrief   I ran my ChatGPT for marketing & lead nurture workshop this morning. Here are 2 takeaways in case you missed it. ChatGPT is only as good an the inputs you give it. With your prompts, I suggest assigning ChatGPT a role and an also outcome you desire. Then provide as much detail and context as you can. Don’t be shy – it can handle a lot of detail! Then make revisions to the draft that ChatGPT gives you. This should get you to an output that is 70% of the way there. The final 30% is up to you to put the finishing touches on. The 2 tools I love are: AIPRM ..read more

How do we find our 150 disciples?

FINDING OUR DISCIPLES: How do we find the 100 or 150 disciples that we need in order to nurture our 10 or 12 next clients? (Remember a ‘disciple’ is someone devoted to the outcome you can help them achieve. They are not devoted to you!) The slow way but effective to do it is to actually message and keep in contact and ask people questions as to where they’re at in their journey. You can gauge whether they are serious about getting to the outcome that you can help them with. The faster way of doing this is to utilize content on whichever platform your audience is on, whether it’s LinkedIn or I ..read more

How many relationships can we manage at once?

How many genuine relationships can we manage at once? 50? 100? 500? Enter Dunbar’s Number – a theory that suggests a cognitive limit to the number of individuals with whom we can maintain stable relationships. According to British anthropologist Robin Dunbar… For us humans, the “magic number” is 150. This is not just trivia, it’s a critical insight for business owners and marketers. It explains why trying to market to “everyone” often results in reaching “no one.” When building your marketing strategy, Dunbar’s Number should be top of mind. How does it translate to lead generation and winning ..read more
