It’s been about 2 months since I’ve started giving facials again and let me tell you - I am ALIVE. I honestly wasn’t expecting to feel so invigorated by it. But here I am, elated and also glad that I was so wrong about any apprehension I had coming back to the treatment room. During the last two years, everything became a red flag to me about my industry. I needed to completely deconstruct my view point and dig deeper about WHY I actually still give facials after 16 years. My soul was no longer in it and I didn’t think anyone deserved that. I lost my identity a little bit over the last few ye ..read more

IT'S OFFICIAL! Facials are coming to Dallas in April

It’s official - I’m going to be offering facials in Dallas (highland park) Saturdays and Sundays starting in April. Schedule a facial I waited a really long time to decide whether or not I was going to give facials again. After my first relocation of the pandemic in June 2020, it was clear that starting a new business with new people in a new environment was the recipe for my body’s official breakdown. I needed to step back and really dive deep into recovery after my endometriosis surgery as well as try to unlearn a lot of habits I had acquired as a business owner, esthetician, and plain old h ..read more

A HEALTHY REMINDER; a quick rundown of some skin saviors

After getting certified as a nutritional therapy practitioner, skin became a much clearer roadmap for me to help support my clients feel better fully - not just for a clear complexion. So I figured I’d share a few things; ?? Dehydration is something we almost all chronically face. Getting trace minerals into your daily water intake AS WELL as watching food and drinks that can be dehydrating makes a big shift in our overall health and skin radiance. Plus they serve as nerve conductors and are often the cofactor to vitamins necessary for proper immune support.  ?? Omegas are often overlooke ..read more

2022 Update
Therapeutic Skin Coach

Hi Everyone! Whoever you are reading this, I want you to know that I’m grateful that you’re here. There are just a few announcements that I have whether you are an old or new friend to Therapeutic Skin Coach. I started Therapeutic Skin Coach back in 2014 after a whirlwind of health issues and desire to follow my heart towards more authentic work. I was very naive about what it would take to run a business because I didn’t realize I would even have to run one if I was doing facials. As I grew my business, so did my online presence which afforded me opportunities to create content, become virtua ..read more

My 34th birthday is coming up on August 27th and I can’t help but think how crazy it is that I’ve been writing this blog since I was 28?? It’s been such a blur I don’t even know. As I reflect on the wild ride that has been 33, aka a move (with another one coming in September), two surgeries, a lot of loss, a semi-permanent break from facials, living with family, an election, being in school for 6+ months, having all my belongings in boxes, and a total re-evaluation of everything in my life - one of the topics that has been on my brain for a while now has been burn out. I’ve been feeling burnt ..read more

Have you ever faced a secret battle in your healing? As a result of this, did you make yourself feel small in order to accommodate the comfort of others? Healing is uncomfortable, to say the least, but it doesn’t have to isolate you from people who want to support you. Something that I’ve learned as an esthetician for the past 15 years is you never really know the challenges someone is secretly battling. We all bear invisible scars and heavy hearts at different times and severity throughout our lives. The private battles are often what impact our interactions with others and even our ability t ..read more

When the unexpected happens
Therapeutic Skin Coach

Such as life would have it, I am writing to you after another unexpected pause. Many of you have quietly and kindly reached out to me over the past few weeks after noticing an alarming “out on medical leave” note on my Instagram and email away message. Not to get too personal, but I wanted to share some updates on what that was about.  Like many millennials, I get anxious at the idea of being away from work or even any work-related tasks, especially because I'm in a customer-related business where my physical presence is crucial to generating business. So I tend to overcompensate in my co ..read more

Why is green beauty expensive?
Therapeutic Skin Coach

Why is green beauty expensive? Because April is #earthmonth I wanted to answer a few common questions on #greenskincare and if it still holds up as an earth-friendly, safer, and more ethical alternative to conventional beauty care. Today, I wanted to dive into why more green beauty may seem more expensive than conventional products. Money is a tricky subject because what you may consider expensive someone may view it as affordable. But when you place both a $10 and a $50 cleanser in front of someone, they deserve to know why one is more expensive than the other. I don't have all the detail ..read more

Is green beauty ethical?

Is green beauty ethical? April is #earthmonth so I wanted to dive into some earth conscious questions about the #greenskincare industry. Since it has become so mainstream over the last few years, has production of green beauty products maintained its ethical claim? To better answer this, we have to explore what makes a beauty product ethical. My go-to list includes: - NEVER EVER tested on animals. This is a non-negotiable and is actually outlawed in certain states. Look for the leaping bunny logo or check out the cosmetic testing FAQ page of the humane society's website. - Fair-trade wages/co ..read more

Is green beauty still considered safe?
Therapeutic Skin Coach

Is green beauty still considered safe?  Since it is #earthmonth, I wanted to explore some commonly asked questions on #greenskincare now that it has become more mainstream. With so many new brands out there claiming to be safe just because they can fall under the "green beauty" category, it's become a little harder to navigate what exactly qualifies as safe beauty care. The most effective path to take while diving into this subject is for you to evaluate your personal definition of what's safe for you. Unfortunately, the cosmetic regulations on what's safe for the public are still very di ..read more
