Hey Everyone! Today on “Ask the Educator” we are going to discuss the best time to take childbirth education classes. I often get asked if there is a perfect time in your pregnancy to take a class. Hopefully by the end of this you will have a good idea. How late is too late? I have had moms come to me in their 36th week and ask if it's too late for a class. Is it? Well, as long as you're not in labor it is never too late, but you might want to do your planning a little earlier in your pregnancy. Babies can come early, moms can get sick, things happen. Ideally you would want to finish class on ..read more

Consider location and your family's needs If you have kids, a practice that is further away or with longer wait times is not ideal. Frederick Moms and Doulas
by FMD Mom Michelle

Today we are sharing an intense and beautiful birth story from one of our funniest clients. She had us laughing even in the tough moments and has continued to bring her honesty and fun to our NEST group this past season. Michelle and her husband Chris were the kind of family that we love to work with. They knew what they wanted and they used every resource they had to achieve just that. Your birth was a joy to support, Michelle! Trigger warning: Fetal Distress and NICU Flynn's BIRTH-day My birth story is nothing like I had pictured. What is B.R.A.I.N and how do I use it?

B.R.A.I.N. One of my favorite acronyms to use as a doula (and a mom!) It’s a quick and easy way to help us to slow down and make informed, conscious decisions. There is so much prep when planning for a baby! Getting the nursery set up, what car seat to buy, what are feeding essentials... the list goes on and on. It’s an exciting time, and definitely one to look forward to. But in all the prep for baby, you can forget to prepare for you! Your body, your whole life will be changing, and with that comes some extra attention in taking care of yourself. Our advice is to make preparing for YOU one of your biggest priorities, then you can move on to the family and baby. You will need recovery time!
