Getting the right support from the start is often crucial to the success of a mother's breastfeeding journey.  It's sad to say that not every midwife or health visitor is qualified or offers the best advice. Sometimes you have to persevere to get the help that suits you best. Other times your midwife/health visitor is just bloomin' brilliant from the get go!  I hadn't even fully comprehended the task of breastfeeding when I was pregnant. I was fa ..read more

Why wear nursing tops?

Why buy nursing tops? In the same way that you wear wellies or a swimsuit, nursing tops should be considered clothing that are 'fit for function' - stylish & practical clothing that makes breastfeeding  fuss free with easy access to the breast.  A good style is one that is easy to throw on in the morning with a pair of jeans or be able to dress it up for a fancier occasion. It makes dressing your top half a no brainer with the peace of mind that you can easily breastfeed in it when baby needs.  With so many styles to choose from you can turn your everyday dressing into a ti ..read more

Top tips for breastfeeding discreetly with our fabulous nursing tops so you can learn to breastfeed with confidence.  The phrase “normalise breastfeeding” makes me cringe somewhat. Why? Because it implies that breastfeeding is not a normal part of life or way to feed baby. Granted breastfeeding is not possible or suitable for everyone - “fed is best” after all - but it seems ridiculous to me that we need to raise the profile of breastfeeding in public as an acceptable practice. Yet we do if only to make mums more comfortable doing it and less self conscious.  Now I must confess ..read more

Breastfeeding requires calories! All breastfeeding mums know that nursing baby uses up a lot of calories. There's a time for cutting back on the sweet treats but when you need cake, you need cake!  Banana bread / cake is somewhat renowned for being stodgy but I assure you, this recipe makes a lovely light banana cake.  It's an heirloom recipe which I've adapted - handed down to me through the family. It's one of those where you throw it all in the mixer, give it a blitz and voila! Let me know how you find it.  Baya's Banana Yoghurt Cake / Banana Bread 1 Pot of Yoghurt approx 17 ..read more
