The oil is extracted from the vegetable beans and then hydrogenated to create soy wax.  Is anything added to Soy Wax to make candles?  Not ours! Our soy wax candles are made from 100% soy wax, a cotton wick and essentials oils. Soy wax is softer than paraffin based wax, which makes it fine for use in containers like ours. However, you may find pillar style c ..read more

A Moodbooster: The Rosemary and Lavender Candle
Denys & Fielding | Gardenware Blog

It's January. Days are short. Outside, the sky is that murky, mizzly kind - uninviting, grey and overcast. While we've been working away for months on our new range of outdoor candles with Spring / Summer in mind, today, I've got to say, I've absolutely loved lighting one indoors.  My candle of choice for today was 'Rosemary and Lavender' - a perfect scent to clarify my thoughts; still foggy from too much cheese, wine and mince pies woofed down over the Christmas hols.  This beautiful aromatheratpy candle isn't a straight 50 / 50 split of Rosemary and Lavender. We've carefully w ..read more

What is Cold Processed Soap? (and why it's good for your skin)

What is cold processed soap and how does it differ from 'normal' soap?  We've been experimenting and developing our own range of cold process soaps for over 18 months now. There has been a lot of research involved to understand how the cold process works, how it differs from other techniques and what a cold pressed soap delivers above and beyond the norm. At a time when we are all washing our hands with extra rigour and awareness, what we are washing them with is something that's worth further investigation. So here goes... my attempt at explaining more about the process ..read more

New Creative Workshop Series at John Lewis, Bluewater, Kent.

Back in May, I had the pleasure of running the first of several workshops planned for the summer, hosted at John Lewis, Bluewater.  For two lovely hours, myself and a gorgeous group of ladies knotted and plaited away, creating macrame plant hangers to take home and enjoy. On the back of this event, another workshop was added to the calendar - this time, Candle Making in July. Workshop attendees went home with their very own candle, made with our unique blend of citronella and clementine. Perfect for the Summer garden.  Now, with Autumn not far a way, a new series of workshops is planned for up ..read more

Gardening with Children

Ooh. Now, here comes the truth. I don’t like gardening with kids. I know. Awful, eh? The trouble is, the OCD kicks in. “Don’t stand on that!” “Be careful of the bulbs” “this is NOT a football pitch!” Oh, but it is.  To my little boys, the garden is freedom - a space to let loose and go wild. Savoured on weekends and evenings. When the kids arrived, all that kick ..read more
