The sun actually shone in London for more than two consecutive hours this morning, so as far as I’m concerned, it’s time to slap on the factor 50 and make a mad dash to the supermarket for a disposible barbeque. That’s right, folks: summer is on its way. Well, summer might not be just yet. But Fulham Beach Club certainly is. And that’s good enough for me.
As of April 26, you’ll no longer need a passport and a long haul flight to be transported to a white sand beach. A trusty Oyster card will suffice, as London’s favourite urban beach is making its grand return to the capital city for a season ..read more

It’s certainly not everyday that your morning commute is interrupted by the appearance of two life-sized movie monsters. This morning, however, Londoners were left pretty flabbergasted at the sight of two humongous Godzilla and Kong sculptures lurking in and around the Thames. Only in London, hey?
Godzilla’s spikes were spotted emerging from the river, whilst Kong’s gigantic hand was seen crushing a red phone box on the South Bank. The spectacular stunt is in celebration of the new movie, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which is being released this week. The colossal creatures made a rather a ..read more

Lauper-loving Londoners, you’re going to want to hear this. Hot on the heels of her Glastonbury announcement; pop royalty, Cyndi Lauper, has revealed that she will also be popping into the capital city this summer to perform a (hugely excitement-inducing) one-night-only show. It turns out girls really do just want to have fun.
When and where is Cyndi Lauper performing in London?
The iconic performer will be gracing the stage of London’s Royal Albert Hall a mere 29 years after last performing there. She will be performing her catalogue of timeless hits with her full band for one night (and one ..read more

Recent solar conditions have resulted in aurora borealis sightings being reported much farther away from the usual vantage points. This past weekend even saw some people glimpsing the Northern Lights near London!
Fittingly to their name, the lights were spotted some ways north of London. Last night saw reports of sightings in Norfolk and North Lincolnshire. Word of these sightings came from the Aurora UK group on Facebook, where group members shared their own photos and reports of the sight.
Up in Norfolk, the Northern Lights saw colours briefly appearing in the sky before the moon’s bright li ..read more

There’s a brand new food festival coming to the city, and it’s set to be anything but sub-par. Spreading a love of sandwiches throughout North London, the inaugural ‘Sarnie Party’ will be taking over Camden Town Brewery’s Kentish Town Beer Hall in May.
Celebrating the nation’s favourite comfort food and showcasing some of the best sandwiches in the country, Sarnie Party is what it says on the tin: a three-day, carb-fuelled jamboree. Bringing together a bunch of twenty talented chefs, each tasked with creating a new and exclusive sandwich, an empty stomach is going to be essential for this one ..read more

Great art comes from anywhere and everywhere. But the intrinsic conundrum is that not every person who could be a great artist will have the means to dedicate their time and energy to it. Whether it be financial demands that detract your attention or specific circumstances that steer you away from the path, not everyone is able to reach their artistic potential. That’s why the Koestler Arts charity highlights and celebrates art from an unexpected source; their annual exhibition displays artwork from people in prison.
This November, at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, the Koestler Ar ..read more

“The Australians are coming, the Australians are coming!” And no, we’re not talking about the emigration of Aussie’s Clapham-dwellers to other areas of London. Instead, we’re talking about the arrival of a beloved confectionary in this fair country. Australia’s favourite biscuit, Tim Tams, can now be purchased all across the UK.
Talk to any Australian for more than, oh, six seconds or so, and we’ll find a way to moan about all the delicious Australian treats that we can’t get over here. Sometimes it’s the typically Australian baked goods that we miss: lamingtons, neenish tarts, and Anzac cooki ..read more

An entire London residence will dedicate its space to exhibit the forgotten photographs of Andy Warhol and American printmaker central to the pop-art movement, Robert Indiana. Photographed by William John Kennedy who was known to document the ‘bohemian New York life,’ these images were said to be lost to the world for nearly 40 years.
William John Kennedy’s most interesting pieces of work were rediscovered in the mid-90s when he and his wife stumbled upon a set of negatives of photographs of artists Andy Warhol and Robert Indiana from 1963-1964, years said to be pivotal for both of their caree ..read more

Those who have experienced the magical vistas of the famous train passing through the Glenfinnan Viaduct in the Scottish Highlands will truly understand the tragedy of this situation. The Harry Potter steam train has been suspended, and can no longer operate taking passengers onboard.
The beloved service takes magic lovers on a heartwarming journey from Fort William to Mallaig, bringing in a whopping £20 million to the UK’s economy. However, the Hogwarts Express is no more, as West Coast Railways (WCR) did not get an exemption from the Office of Rail and Road (ORR) to operate the trip due to i ..read more
