Hi! I'm working on learning Coming down to rising Fawn by ear. Just a question on the C-section. Is it (playing it in G) G F A D over and over again or is it first G F A D and then something like just G D. I'm learning it from guitar only versions, so it's (at least to me) a bit hard to figure out. Thankful for help! submitted by /u/Alert-Divide-7966 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Howdy all, not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but here goes. (Disclaimer: im not a sound guy, I just play) I'm currently in the works of creating a bluegrass band, I'm on guitar, my cousin on bass and a family friend on mando and hopefully a banjo player soon. The gear for guitar and mando are (for the most part) worked out. Currently, for bass I have a 52' Kay C-1 with a basic piezo pickup (KNA BD-1) and its ok-ish, but whenever he throws slapping in it really distorts the sound with the piezo quack. Thinking of adding a fishman platinum pro as a preamp, but I'm not sure if I s ..read more

Hi everyone, peaches in the summertime, apples in the fall. I am making a microblogging app for bluegrass music fans. It will be same as any other app where users post stuff but only for bluegrass (and maybe other country music). You can follow other bluegrass creators. Seems like a cool idea? Will people join it ? Suggestions welcomed. (I heard shady grove by doc watson and fell in love with bluegrass). submitted by /u/Key-Court-6501 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Per the Toy Heart Podcast. If anyone knows what this means, I’d love to hear it. It seems to imply we’re losing a member. Unless this is to say Adam Steffey is back, I don’t want to hear it. submitted by /u/dantyminski [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I’d like to think every episode of the podcast gives you something to think about, but this one is definitely crammed full of useful insight and ideas you can really put into practice! My guest this week is Stephen Mougin, guitarist in The Sam Bush Band and founder of Dark Shadow Recording. In this episode we talk about Stephen’s work as a band coach. We chat about his training as a vocal teacher, what bands should be working on (including how they should be rehearsing), why preparing for the studio isn’t really all that different from preparing to play live and how to listen to music in ..read more
