We’re back after a three-month break, our first podcasting break in almost fifteen years of creating The Dream Show! Why? Listen to find out. In today’s episode you’ll discover more about the power of dreams – more specifically, the power of understanding and working with your dreams – through three little stories. Talking of stories, I also chat about my forthcoming fiction book. Well, it’s still very much under wraps at the moment, but will be published by the middle of this year. And a call out for guests: if you’d like to be a guest and have a dream interpreted on a future episode, here’s ..read more

Time out

Last month we spent a couple of weeks in Cambodia, visiting my son and his wife, exploring ancient temples, boating through floating villages, immersing in the local culture, and not doing any work at all. No dream consultations, no writing, no media interviews, no podcasting. Much as I love my work – at heart I am a passionate creative focussed on providing meaningful service through my endeavours – I know the value of rest, recovery, and regeneration. Weekends are sacred, sleeping and dreaming is non-negotiable, and holidays are an opportunity to experience different perspectives and flex d ..read more

Animals in Dreams

Putting cats, dogs, horses, neighbourhood birds, and other everyday animals to one side, which of the wilder or more exotic animals have appeared in your dreams? Over many years my dream menagerie has included jaguars, tigers, lion, snakes, various mysterious birds, whales, dolphins, colourful tropical fish, oh, and a tortoise. I’m sure that many of these – and their innumerable cousins – have prowled, slithered, flown, swam, and made their presences known in many of your dreams too. ‘Made their presences known’; now that’s an interesting turn of phrase. We tend to dream of animals when we’re ..read more

Kat, from British Columbia, Canada, is my guest as we explore her dream about a risky, ground-breaking science experiment that seems to have gone drastically wrong. Helpless and confused in the face of possibly dangerous levels of radioactivity, Kat encounters a visual artist who asks her to hold her exquisitely designed purse. Later she meets a conspiracy theorist, and a bunch of Pokémon trainers. And why does someone mention Life of Pi and another movie featuring a tiger? Listen as Kat and I trace the various strands of her dream to see how they all connect, discover the light they shed on ..read more

Episode 276 The Dream Show: The Japanese Room

by Jane Teresa Anderson
4M ago
Tanya from Adelaide, South Australia, is my guest as we interpret her dream of an exquisite Japanese room and a search for a toilet. The only toilet she finds is too exposed, but on the upside, in another room, she discovers the clear deep turquoise waters of a rock pool with a rock hovering – yes hovering – above the surface. How lovely it would be to climb up onto that rock, but Tanya can’t because there’s no toilet up there. But oh, the stunning Japanese room that she finds next! Listen as Tanya and I explore her dream, interpret it, relate it to her life, and discover new perspectives and ..read more

When you can’t see the forest for the trees
Jane Teresa Anderson Blog

Sometimes we get so bogged down in the small details of a problem that we miss seeing the whole situation. We can’t see the forest for the trees. Or, if you’re British, like me, we can’t see the wood for the trees. Either way, we’re too close to the situation (too close to the trees and all their details) to stand back and see the reality of the big picture. It’s a metaphor fit for a dream, isn’t it? I once had a dream of wandering around in a forest (except mine was probably an English wood), quite lost until I finally found my way out, climbed a hill, and looked down on the forest from afar ..read more

Even mountains flow. What does this mean to you? If you thought we got pretty cosmic in part 9, be prepared for some mind-bending metaphysics in this episode! After exploring how mountains flow, you’ll hear some stories I rarely share because although they may seem implausible, they shed more light on how to navigate life’s extraordinary mysteries. This is the last episode in the series: today we bring Bird of Paradise home. If you have missed the earlier episodes, here’s the book blurb to entice you to go back to part 1, episode 266, and listen to the whole book from the first chapter: Bird ..read more

“As above, so below.” “As within, so without.” What do these ancient sayings mean to you? In today’s episode we venture deeper into the cosmic (although previous episodes have certainly had us journeying this space). We talk about a fairy, the Emerald Tablet, and explore why grass is green. The realm of metaphysics awaits. After nearly 14 years – and 265 episodes – of The Dream Show, we decided to do something a little different between February and late November 2023 when we will return to our usual format. Over ten episodes, I’m narrating my most recent book, Bird of Paradise (Taming t ..read more

Leap of faith

I’ve finally done it. I’ve written my first fiction novel. If you had asked me yesterday whether I’m going to write a sequel, I would have shrugged my shoulders, but I note that my typing fingers have a different opinion. My body knows what my head doesn’t: if this is my first novel, there will be a second, and a third. I’ve been writing non-fiction for most of my adult life, including my seven books on dreams and dreaming, but when a podcast host asked me about my next project, I surprised myself by saying I wanted to write a novel. My mouth knew what my head didn’t. Even though the podcast ..read more
