Best Algorithm for Vocal Extraction from Tracks

Hey fellow producers, I've been experimenting with a few apps and services that claim to effectively extract vocals from a track. While I've had some decent results, I'm curious to know if there's something out there I might be missing. What are your current go-to algorithms or tools for this task? I'm particularly interested in anything that might provide cleaner, more precise extractions. Thanks in advance for your insights! submitted by /u/Dry-Noise-5233 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Dub remix discussion

I know the origin of dub music has been discussed here to death, and even the reason why dub remixes were made later. But dub remixes are still being made, and I tend to love them a lot. However, I'm unclear on the reason why the dj/producer takes one or two sentences, possibly some other vocal parts and makes it into a full song. I've tried to approach several djs asking them "I love your dub remix, what made you decide to use this specific sentence off the original song and loop it" but never received one single response. I might be an idiot or something cause I'm so interested in this topi ..read more

Mastering loudness penalty

I downloaded some free tracks that I enjoy from bandcamp and ran them through the loudness penalty site and they all received around -4 to -5 db penalty if uploaded to youtube or spotify but still sounded very good. my tracks vary alot but from my pov they sound loud and full but the penalty differs alot from -0.5 to -2.5, if I push my tracks to -4 to -5 they sound very unpleasant to listen to. My tracks sound good when listening to them on the loudnesspenalty site but I feel like I'm missing something here. I'm working on a project that contains 5 songs and I'm at the mastering stage atm, I ..read more

Tunecore blocking releases in automated responses without explanation?

I've been considering signing up with Distrokid or Tunecore and while I have no intention of releasing music from other artists, I want a label name from with which my music is released. I see both platforms have options facilitating this - DK at $79.99 and Tunecore at $40. However it has recently come to my attention that a significant number or artists are submitting releases only to have them blocked with an apparent series of autoresponses that are unhelpful. Some artists have even been blocked entirely. One artist claims on youtube that Tunecore blocked her very first release. These issu ..read more

Sully's snare rolls

sully-soundboy don't push your luck How do I get my snare rolls to sound like the ones that occur throughout the track? It almost sounds like they're slightly delayed and the same effect is applied to the shuffle hits as well. I know sully used comb filters in renoise but I'm not sure if that's what is being used here. A similar snare roll sound can be heard in remarc-thunderclap. Any help would be much appreciated (I'm using renoise) submitted by /u/glong123 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Arrangement issues

I am having so many issues with arranging my songs, it drives me crazy! I seem to have a certain structure I fall back on, and that is where I make an intro, then a 8 bar drop. If I make it 12 bars or 16 it sounds like it's dragging on. Then I make a breakdown/buildup section, and my default for this is like 16 bars ...it's longer than the drop usually. Then I go back to the drop, but the part that is high energy, and fade out. I am having alot of trouble making new sections of the song interesting, and I always second guess my drums ( hihats in the second half of drop, or crashes? Maybe hi h ..read more

Goal of this checklist: basis for budget allocation for producers who only start careers and are not signed up for a label yet. Source: generated by OP as a result of discussion in one of the online schools communities. Tags and notes: [Low-cost] - requires minimal investments: comes as a pack with license / subscription, can be bought cheaply or rented on a budget-friendly rate. [Pricey] - requires direct and obvious expenditure. [Social Networking] - extremely time consuming. Sometimes needs financing. Especially if you are working full time to make your own living.
