Children are being diagnosed with mental illnesses with increasing frequency.  Managing with stress is very difficult for persons who suffer from the illness known as Bipolar Disorder, formally known as Manic Depressant; it is just as difficult for children who are victims of this disease. Tahree Lane, a staff writer for The Blade wrote, “An estimated 7.5 million American children 17 years and younger – 12% of the population suffer from mental disorders” (Lane full text).  Are our children being properly treated or is the medication doing more damage?  In Lane’s article “Labelin ..read more

Today some little shit tried to mug me. I was walking in our local parade of shops when a 20 something idiot waved a knife in my face and suggested | hand him my wallet. First point, I don’t normally carry a wallet as such. Second point This idiot had no idea how to hold a knife. So third point. I took it away from him and told him to bugger off. That’s when I heard the words that made me realise I AM old enough to be a grandfather. A little boy, about 6 years old, said from behind me “Wow! my grandpa showed me that move, but I never thought it would work till I saw you do it!” I asked him whe ..read more

Early today I watched an old lady with a zimmer frame struggle down the footpaths to our parade of shops and press the button for the pedestrian crossing lights so she could cross the main road to the shops. These lights stop traffic for about enough time for someone going at about a slow march pace to get across. This lady was a lot slower and was never going to make it before the lights went green for the traffic again, but to my surprise, and I suspect hers, six lads rushed out of builders vans and took up position three on each side of her, as she slowly made her way across and effectively ..read more

Well, it’s Monday and we needed to go back out to shop for exchange of wrong tablet covers. However, just as I woke up, got notification of package delivery. The new cat fountain replacement. So, postponed until later this week. Weather got much colder than from previous week’s as thermostat down to 18°C as normal, the heating kicked in. It was milder before noon as it was raining but once afternoon showed up, temperature went down, brrr… Watched the BBC program from yesterday, Armistice Day. Had seafood linguine for lunch. Planning soup and sandwich for dinner. Haven’t decided yet on filling ..read more

I took my dog for a walk up to the woodland behind my house. This woodland is the remains of the estate of a large country house once owned by Lord Somethingorother. The house is long gone, burned down in the 1920’s I mention this only as the estate had several pathways, metal fences and gates which means that there is a lot of ironwork still sticking up out of the ground and hiding in bushes and against trees. This is exactly what caught the young girl I came across about an hour into our walk. I heard a woman screaming out for help so I headed towards the sounds and found a young mother and ..read more

If we look back at the threads running through out history we can see that man is only interested in one thing . . . Power! One thread is the continual fight between State rights vs. Federal rights.  This can be seen as far back as the Civil War fighting over the 10th Amendment.  The north was commercially Industrial and the south Agricultural.  The north was for government regulations; the south wanted the Federal Government to stay out of commerce.  The north relied on others commercially, whereas the south were independent. The Laissez~faire age began in 1865 pushing for ..read more

If history is compared to a compass where are we heading?  Our advancement in technology is headed North and still growing.  Socially our society is at a standstill ~ a stalemate. With the beginning of the railroad U.S. technology has grown quickly.  Railroads made it possible to move merchandise quickly.  Planes can fly from one country to another in hours.  We can even put a man on the moon.  The telegraph made communication faster.  The computer is faster still; we can communicate with someone on the other side of the earth in a matter of seconds with the ..read more
